Best way to use mind over matter?

If you dont want to head all the way down there, there is the new unique that grants mind over matter in addition to another 10% for 40% total. EB definitely seems like a requirement to use it, although it could be nice to soak up some chaos damage for low life builds that arent CI or shavs.

It's worth noting that MoM does not work with degen effects, so it would not work with the majority of chaos damage sources anyway!

you sure it doesn't?

I somehow remember running out of mana when hit by viper strike or poison arrow degen.

devs said it does not effect degen.

Definitely does not work.
This is a good question. I'm trying a life/mana leech build. So far Im at level 60 and looks like my experiment might pan out.

I started in the deulist tree. Took resolute technique, then took claw leech passives, iron reflexes, mind drinker, unwavering stance and onto vaal pact and MoM. Will take the last two in the next few levels and see how it all works. Using dual strike and splash dual, determination, frenzy, endu4ing call, devourrimg totem, wb for movement, and need to add warlords or some curse. Obviously got leech attacjed to single attack and loh on splash. Figuring out where to fit im a mana leech gem. Also thinking of respeccing Resolute technique and unwavering but its nice to know that ill leech ever u hit. This could be good for pvp if I can stack some more life/mana nodes.

Just an experiment and some thoughts. I lik3 to share. Ill let u all know if I become OP
also any feedback is appreciated.
So much MoM hate in this thread. I run it with Acrobatics and it's amazing! It's saved my life on at least one occasion, and the whole point of being an acro/eva/bow Scion is that when I don't need my ass saved by MoM, I'm not taking enough hits to miss the mana loss. No EB or Mana stacking required; just level 3 Clarity.

Walked up to Archbishop Geofri today and he hit me twice in a row. I didn't even bother to pop Jade after the first hit since I thought I was in the clear. Mind over Matter saved my ass.
Expected nerfs:
- Spectral Throw [done]
- Scion Nodes [done]
- Scion dialogue [ggg plz]

I run MoM with Acrobatics and high block. Works fine but you need to be alert when your mana goes low. I also run low-life build (Frenzy Facebreakers) so I have some mana pot that refill instantly on low health. I don't get hit so often so I guess Im doing good :)

my next curiosity is to use Cloak of Defiance and spec for really high mana regen...
I'm using MoM + EB + acrobatics. EB is definitely worth getting with acrobatics. Eb gives you a butt load of mana, so half of a butt load is still quite a lot. Plus its right next to doom cast and the junction between witch/shadow. I'm also using blind on my freeze pulse + i have enfeeble so I can facetank any non-spell boss. I can reserve 120% mana + lvl 8 clairity and still have 200 mana left over and cast FP almost indefinitely. I only just got to act 3 merc so my gear has major room for improvements but these two things are key:

I was going to go down by the duelist tree originally, but after I saw this unique I decided to take the health + shield nodes + crit nodes by the ranger instead. I'm not going to use mind spiral or ondars flight. Not worth it IMO since you can get way more defense and ES for mana from a deicide mask murder boots. I don;t know how much health damage I prevent with 200 mana but that pool will get bigger as I upgrade my mask/boots/gloves/shield. As for now at the very least it keeps me from reflecting myself to death b/c It drains my manna instantly and prevents another cast.
It can be used in conjuration with Iron Reflexes, for a defensive boost. Theoretically, armor reduces damage, and when u get hit, then 30% of that reduced damage will be taken from mana, which is even more reduced damage. I haven't tried this combo, so I don't know how will it work.
I'm playing a wander build on Nemesis with MoM, EB, Arctic Armor, and evasion. My survival is very good and I rarely have mana issues. Currently lvl 66 and I need to replace a few pieces of armor before I can see the true potential of the build.

MoM is a very strong keystone, but it does require a specialized build to be effective. At first glance it seems like MoM and AA don't work together, but they really do. With high regen your mana will stay full while spamming skills or running with AA active. If you take a bunch of damage, your mana will go down and AA will end, which in turn frees up a bunch of mana regen to let your pool refill for further mitigation through MoM or for skill spamming. AA has no casting cost, so you can easily put it back on if it gets canceled. I think this kind of setup would only work for ranged builds that can mitigate a lot of damage though kiting though.
