Best way to use mind over matter?

At first glance, this seems to me like something that evasion has been waiting for. That damage mitigation that might save your life when evasion lets a bit hit through.

Unfortunately, it is across the tree from eldritch battery, which makes that synergy a bit harder to take advantage of.



One of the more obvious builds to use with mind over matter would be a pure evasion reave build, as it can be used even with no mana.

I've also been toying around with the idea of an edritch battery + mind over matter build, but it's pretty hard to stretch that far while balancing the need for life, mana, ES, evasion, and damage all together.




What are your thoughts?

I'm just wondering if you need to have the mana to be drained in order for it to work.

The most broken case being in combination with blood magic passive. Also, what happens if you just cast a spell and have no mana left to drain?

If there is no mana to be removed, it does NOT mitigate the damage. Sorry about the typo.

Bow build with Scion is perfect for this.

Start Scion, take Attack Speed nodes on the right and proceed up to Eldritch Battery.
Again from Scion, go down the Projectile Damage nodes, and proceed down to Mind over Matter.

Instead of taking mana nodes or going through the whole tree to take EB you can just take life nodes and save some points for other stuff. And don't forget about aura %based reservation.

The reason EB would be so helpful is that you wouldnt be out of mana constantly.

And I dont know why I didnt think of acrobatics, but that's definitely a synergy to keep in mind. I still dont know how to manage with mana shortages though unless it is a reave build.

Does mind over matter works with ES or only with life? For example, what if you are CI ?

Because explanation says: "When hit 30% of damage is taken from mana before life"

They should clear up the wording, but I'd imagine that it applies to ES as well, since I dont think there's any way for a passive skill like mind over matter to override CI.
