Game is too easy? Not complex enough.
From what i have experienced in the beta i can tell you 2 things:
1. If the game is too easy for you, just play Turbo 2. If the game is too hard for you just farm for items where you find it easy I love complex games, but i think gameplay mechanics should stay typical (like it is today). I am not a fan of uber fast mobs or extra health ones. I would love to see some interesting hit and run gameplay with bosses and may be some new mechanics like in transformers games or like in gw2 instances when you shoot people. But normal mobs/rare ones should stay like they are today. |

Take a look at PSO2 guys, it's been 12 pages that you're describing PSO2 gameplay. It's a true arpg with a combat system requiring reflex and timing. You fight very different enemies and have to apply different strategies for each of them, and boss fights are incredibly awesome. I've not seen all of it yet, but since then, for me, no other "action" rpg deserves this designation anymore. It's almost like playing Devil May Cry in a true rpg, plus with other people :)
My only complain is that it seems to be a very slow grind fest, and it doesn't seem to be soloable. I think GGG could learn a lot from it, at least for the action aspect, since nobody beats PoE at character customization. It's free to play, you can try it now in full japanese xD, english release should be next year. Build of the week #2 : http://tinyurl.com/ce75gf4 Last edited by zriL#4590 on Nov 17, 2012, 5:53:08 PM

First off, let me apologize for not reading all 12 pages of responses.
Now, at the risk of repeating something that has been said roughly 587 times already...this is an isometric-view, point-and-click, gear-grind, action role-playing game. And, yes, I am using the word "action" loosely, because that does bring to mind more combat-oriented games. But this game is real-time and not turn-based, so there. The point is, no game in this genre has ever required more "skill" than it takes to aim your mouse cursor and click on something!! And maybe simultaneously work some keys on your keyboard. (Don't bite my head off; I realize that was a teensy bit of an oversimplification.) In any case, dodging/parrying/countering/whatever is not the point of these games...never has been. It's about developing your character, acquiring increasingly more powerful gear, and experiencing the story. Some people might get more out of it, and some people, obviously, just don't get it at all. Long story short: I think this genre of game clearly isn't for you. PS: To anyone that ever writes a review of a game. For the love of all that is holy, don't criticize the game for what it isn't! (Example: Path of Exile isn't Soul Calibur, so it sucks!) Judge it based on its own merits and shortcomings. (Example: As an "isometric-view, point-and-click, gear-grind, action role-playing game" Path of Exile is bloody, freaking awesome and kicks the competition right square in the nads!) Sorry, getting off my soapbox now. Last edited by Ryukagesan#3897 on Nov 18, 2012, 6:22:11 AM

" I just want to repeat this :) Turbo is a lot of fun. |

Oh, and regarding Phantasy Star Online 2...I don't know if people were comparing it to PoE, or were claiming that PoE should be like it, or whatever...pure rubbish and poppycock. Completely different genre of game.
"But it's an ARPG!" True, but it's a 3D, third-person over-the-shoulder ARPG. Hence, game mechanics are going to be (heck, they HAVE to be) completely different than in PoE. Besides, you can still dodge arrows and spells in Wraeclast...or tuck tail and run. =P |

" You have a point, 3rd person view change a lot of things, but it's mainly about controls. If it's about mobs, bosses and AI, 3rd person view doesn't matter much. Besides, isometric view doesn't mean you can't have true dodging (as opposed to running around) and timing with things like combos or animation cancelling. " Bloody good post. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.
I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period. |

" You can now expedite the process of complaining to the developers by writing it on a piece of paper and setting it on fire. Remember, they care and are listening to all of your complaints. |

" Yeah, and the experience can be little green-yellow flashing pills which are slowly sucked towards the character, and goes "Ding-ding-ding!" when he sucks it up, and then Notch can come and eat you. Good one. |

" Eh, well, you're probably right. Though adding keybinds for dodging (etc.) would either require removing keybinds for skills, or growing an extra hand. =P |
