WHY DON'T YOU LIKE TO TRADE?

The most obnoxious thing I find when people are selling is when they post a bunch of items in trade and when you ask about a certain item they just say "Offer".

I know exactly how you feel! I hate is so much when I put stuff up for sale and some yahoo asks me how much something costs instead of giving me an offer. Jerks!

You can apply the same thought to the counter.
OP says trading is part of the game etc. Well, keep going. Crafting is part of the game as well. The problem is that you can't craft reliably because that material is needed to trade. We're being pigeon holed into saving 'currency' for gear instead of using it to create. A SFL would revert that 'currency' to it's original intent which is the crafting system.

Also, like many have said, I can't stand sitting there spamming channels (and get tired of seeing the spam) for something to trade. Values on rares vary greatly on builds and needs and of course on those people who just want everything cheap and want to low ball you. It takes up a lot of time. Which may be a much bigger reason for people wanting SFL in terms of trading.

Not everyone has large chunks of time to spend spamming (full time work, family, activities) that they'd rather progress in the game than spamming trade chat. Also, as mentioned by someone earlier the currency values change often. If you miss a week it takes a while to figure out what may have changed (remember GCPs hitting bottom in like 1 day after 20% recipe found?) A static currency or even an exchange with live updated values would help but doesn't and likely won't exist.

There are likely a ton more that can go into this but sadly GGG wants 2 leagues every 4 months that is 1 hardcore and 1 standard (each with just tiny modifications) so we likely won't see it. Which is a massive letdown and I believe a big mistake.

well that's easy.

everytime I trade it's a reminder how fucking broken this game's "crafting system" is.

you cannot be a normal player in this game and craft level appropriate gear for merciless/post-merciless play.

and if you had the orb count to have a chance to craft something worthwhile it's almost always simpler, and more reliable to buy it.

so again, why even bother with a "crafting system" that no player with a life can actually use.

which is the long way of saying, i don't like to trade because the game _forces_ me to trade.
I do like to trade.

I don't like it when what I want to buy is not a traded item.

I don't like it when what I have to trade is not accepted as trade currency.

I don't like it when I have to feel ripped off every time I buy something.

I don't like it when the only option I have aside from 'endless' grinding is trade.

I don't like it when the trade environment sucks big fat monkey balls.
It's comforting to know that the devs probably chuckle at most of the anti-trade arguments, they all boil down to players refusing to learn how to effectively trade and/or hating on players that trade well.

Also, trading improvements are coming, including public stash tabs apparently, so I wouldn't take such harsh stances against trading because the economy is intimidating just yet.

In a game were gear makes up ~50% of your character you really need to be ontop of your game or you are at a huge disadvantage. If you just want to play an offline/solo ARPG there are tons of better alternatives to PoE.

buying and offering is easy enough, but selling can be a pain in the ass for sure.

I love to trade, but currently it's pain in the ass and hardly worth the effort, unless you are Kripp and people buy your junk instantly for exalts (no pun intended on Kripp, he's a great community guy).

Maybe because the item is GG and you did not know ?

I sold these :

And if you do know what something is worth, good luck finding someone who is selling it while sifting through lines and lines of trade spam or pages of forum posts.

Aside from people that overprice things, there is the second type of person, who ignores you completely (even if you make a good offer) or makes you wait for an excessive amount of time - this is much worse than the first type of person, because I could be playing the game instead of dealing with waiting for people on often trivial matters/trades

The worst of all, are players that go sleep or and keep PoE open, ( afk for 6-10 H :S )

Furthermore, GGG doesn't even take their own ingame economy seriously, otherwise they wouldn't allow insider trading like they do now. By "insider trading", I mean alpha players either giving or using information about significant changes to profit from it before the news reach the public.

Indeed.

Right now its near impossible to trade unless you can find decent item to.

People are super rich, carrying 200+ EX from RMT, botting, or whatever else, perhaps some legit which got rich off botters. These same people do not consume, they sell items that are value of 5-50ex+.

No no no

Some players have : 500ex+
Some others have 3000ex+
and they don't rmt ( why the hell would he buy 3000ex ? )

This is very true, it's amazing how many people say they hate a huge part of the game for whatever reason yet can still say they enjoy playing the game with a straight face.
Because instead of just giving you a price when you ask what someone is selling an item for, they say "offer".

It's possibly the most irritating thing I have ever seen, and it's only getting worse. Now I'm seeing people in trade chat post in their advertisements "No offer =insta-ignore"

Thank you GGG for doing something about it (Public tabs).

It's amazing how pawn shops are still around...I mean if you don't have the knowledge to make a reasonable offer who's fault do you think it is?

And if you don't have the balls to make an offer... well....
