How to use the Arctic Armour Level 20

to me, difficulty by AI and interesting design, beats difficulty by 1-shot gear-check any day.
GGG obviously disagree.
perhaps I'm not their preferred breed of "hardcore".

I wanted to thank you for pointing this out. I hope they will somehow one day fix the balance, and how difficulty is set.

I really dislike how melee has to have ton of hp to get beyond limit of one shot.

In my opinion in a game where mobs attack as fast as they do in PoE, there is no reason for putting a hard-coded mechanic to make sure no single damage can be higher than %99 of your max life.
You fear people abusing this? Add constant summons to hard hitter fights, just like in Weaver, or Oversoul or Piety fights. Even if they implemented it right now without changing anything the only places you could abuse this are Hillock and Kole, every other boss has add summons anyway. Hillock, Kole and Blacksmiths can also have adds.
It would actually a change for the better as it would make it more fun, rather than just having a check of "Do you have enough HP to survive one shot?"

Also there are so many places you just roll the dice to see if you survive or not. Like Lightning Warp from Piety, its damage range is too big that, you may get hit for nothing, or get one shot with capped resists.

I wish they would remove these two from the game all together:
1. Do you have enough HP/ES to survive one shot ?
2. Are you lucky enough against wide range RNG?

This leads many people to use spork/ totem / projectile as it is the only viable safe way other than melee builds that put ALL its passives in life nodes and survival.

Why should not a glass cannon melee build be viable with good player skills? Or why should be staying away from monsters always mean being safe? I wish there were some mobs/bosses that posed greater threat the further you are.

GGG can fix this, they already made a great game, I when they actually get the chance to play with 1.0.0 release, they will notice these problems and do something about them :)

Running level 17 Arctic Armor, LMP Incinerate tank.

Currently 4.5k mana, and do not lose mana while running or casting Incinerate. I keep it active all day.

u dont need 4.5k mana to run AA. lvl 16 AA 3.8k ES 1.6k mana.
damage modifiers don't can currently can't apply to degen.
"Getting all life nods on passive tree should give additional survival, not the mandatory basic survival."

The advantage is that if you have enough mana regen to keep arctic armour up while moving it will likely mean that you also have enough to spam skills when you're standing still.

But level 20, yeah, doubt that's doable permanently active... leave higher levels for temporary buffs, like when standing still and leaching mana.
