Gonna take one of my lvl 70-72 chars that are idling in standard and play the new content on merciless. After unlocking the scion i'm gonna start with it in the new leagues.

I am waiting for more information about the new passive tree and the scion's signature skills. If it is something super exciting I will just unlock her with a high level char. If not, I just start the new league normally, unlock her along the way and make a scion as my second char once I am tired grinding docks :D

If Scion is available throughout all difficulties by unlocking her in only one difficulty then i'll unlock her with the new character that I will create in Nemesis. I probably wont play her in HC straight away though. Maybe after finishing Merc with the character I unlocked her with.
If you have to unlock her in each difficulty to play her then i'll just faceroll the new content on a high level toon on Standard, cos that's all I play and where I want to try out some Scion builds. IIRC Chris said that Scion will be unlockable at Normal difficulty so that you learn about how the skill tree works enough to use the more difficultly positioned class. Maybe i'm just slow, but I didn't develop a good understanding of how the game works until I got a character through Merc for the first time. Even now I haven't come close to fully understanding all of the game mechanics. Anyone can get through Normal using any build which means that am player may not have any real understanding of how the skill tree works when they unlock Scion. Not that this really matters, but it seems that Scion is designed to be a class for experienced players. I think it would be better to have Scion unlocked at Merciless so that a player actually experiences the game fully before having access to her. There are probably dozens of reasons why Scion should be unlocked at Normal that i'm far too blind to see and this is why GGG are game developers and i'm not. However being a 'casual' player is not one. I consider myself to be casual and Merciless is by no means out of reach. http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/532639/filter-account-type/staff

I won't be going for insta unlock.
New char through normal, then Scion-time. |
