Dexterity should provide 1% all resists per 10 points.
Everyone is making this too complicated.
Strength adds something pretty much everyone can use - life - as a flat amount, and adds something only some use - melee physical damage - as a percent. Intelligence adds something pretty much everyone can use - mana - as a flat amount, and adds something only some use - energy shield - as a percent. Dexterity adds something only some can use - accuracy rating - as a flat amount, and adds something pretty much everyone can use - evasion - as a percent. The solution is simple: just flip them. Add evasion as a flat amount, add accuracy rating as a percent. Might need to change some of the Accuracy nodes in the tree, would probably need to remove Iron Reflexes completely (and good riddance!)... but that would make it no longer feel like a garbage stat. Everyone like evading attacks. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted.

" so because you forgo your classes primary defense, and *choose* RT, you should get a bonus? Im not saying dex is great, but if you actually use acc and ev, its not that bad. Well, the acc part anyways. EV is still best for ranged versus melee though. Although I have seen some decent EV block builds. With blind being a must. |

" Not a bonus compared to other dex users; just some benefit at all from the dex would be nice. But anyway, @Nephalim, just because this keystone combo is good, doesn't mean dex is bad. There are similar examples for str and int too. EGs: Non-ES bloodmagic users get no benefit from int. CI casters/ranged with Auxium get no bonus from str (unless they use iron will/grip; many don't). RT + IR is common, but so is CI + spells/ranged, or BM + no ES. Face it, all of your suggestions are worse than this idea:

You make sense, Scrotie. But I still don't like how dex competes against dex, its two bonuses being the sole opposites to one another. Neither str nor int do this, and it seems to single dex out among the three. At least to me.

" That's what I thought dex should give. While in real life it would be absolutely possible that someone with no dexterity to speak of fire a bow, the chance they actually hit a target is remote. So with a lot of dex, you'll be able to hit your target (= chance to hit). Now, if you have enough dex, you would not only hit the target, but hit it where it counts. I mean, shooting a monster in the foot repeatedly WILL kill it in this game (of course you can't aim for the foot) - but in a real fight, an arrow to the foot wouldn't be lethal (unless you're Achilles), nor would five or six. So in this game, arrows to the foot would mean something like dealing normal damage. But the excellent archer with high dex wouldn't always hit the feet or arms, but would place more arrows in the throat, eye, heart etc., dealing more damage - or, as in PoE's terminology, critical hits. 1% all res for 5 poins?
So, taking a +30 Dex node will result in 6% all res, just like certain other type of node. This is a crazy bad idea and it shall never be. |

" I can see some use to that. Though a lot of accuracy bonuses in the game are based on %s, which assume that you get your base accuracy from dexterity, otherwise all you can use is rolls on magics/rares or the additional accuracy support. " Like I said, 30 int gives 6% ES and mana to boot. And ES nodes aren't exactly given out like candy either. Though after seeing the responses here... 1% per 10 points wouldn't be useless either. A little lacking but not useless. " I really like changing the evasion bonus to a flat amount, as long as it still doesn't affect IR. |
