Difficulty Level Naming

~ Marooned: What? You thought you were marooned before? Well, now you will be shown just what it was intended to mean...
~ Revanche (Revenge) / Vindictive: That which has been 'given' will now be taken away. Your enemies now have the power to right the 'wrongs' you have perpetrated against them... ~ Inhuman: The compassion that was shown to you before has officially been revoked. Pity will no longer be seen, only the inhospitable truth... ~ Woebegone: You will be treated like a damsel in distress no longer. Your troubles have only just begun... ~ Forlorn / Bereft: Misery loves company, right? Well, now there will be no one left to salve your 'bruised' ego... -----Edit------------------------------- How long will the poll go on for before a decision is made? Maybe, it would be a good idea to make a post about it on the front page. I am not sure how may choices there will be on the poll (the more there are the less likely there will be a majority) but maybe a poll using instant-runoff voting or a two round system(double ballot) would be best (if they are not too difficult to implement)... |

"F*cking unforgiveable"
"Standard" "Try this out and survive" Above content may contain traces of nonsense.

Mors et gloria
Latin for Death or Glory. I think, a little rusty, but I think that would be an awesome name for the hardest difficulty. -or- "Best bring a change of underwear" would also be awesome, not sure how to put that in Latin though. "the premier Action RPG for hardcore gamers."

It's okay for us to change the names of the existing three if needed.
So far we're liking: a) Hard, Cruel, Ruthless, Merciless b) Hard, Cruel, Ruthless, Exiled c) Some series of synonyms of "exiled" like Outcast, _____, _____, Exiled. Any opinions on which you guys prefer out of those ones? Or shall I add a poll? Lead Developer. I choose C. It adds some more identity to the game and helps to differentiate it while still getting the point across.
My second choice would be A. It accomplishes what it needs to even if it isn't terribly interesting. I don't like B. The 'exiled' doesn't jive with the first three adjectives. I know it's cool to have the hardest difficulty be 'exiled' because the game is Path of Exile but if that's what you want to do then I really think C would work much better for that. ------- On a completely different note. Why did you decide to add a fourth difficulty? What couldn't you fit into the first three? You don't need to go into specifics obviously. I'm just curious because you don't really make that sort of decision arbitrarily. Forum Sheriff

I agree with tpapp157 that A & C are superior to B. C allows for some cool words: castaway, vagrant, vagabond. I was thinking though, should the last difficulty be exile with no d?
Edit: Castaway, Vagrant, Outcast, Exile Castaway seems like a good way to start, and exile seems like the obvious way to end. These words represent your character though, and not really a difficulty...does that still work? I am a poor freezingly cold soul
So far from where I intended to go |

" It depends on if you're using the word as a verb to describe the player's condition or as an adjective to describe the player. Outcast works either way. I don't think one way is necessarily better than the other. Forum Sheriff

C is probably best as to have synergy with the name of the game. I'd just make sure that the context of distance from something providing 'ease' is apparent within gameplay and the difficulty clearly reflects it.
