Why are you so obsessed that cheating is great? If it had been any online-other game, would you mind if people cheated? No? So why is it ok that peopel cheat in TL2? That's what I don't understand. I don't like people cheating, so I'm the weird one? Did I wake up in the Twilight Zone or something?

Every ARPG ever has been overrun by cheats/hacks/dupes... the fact that you expected more from TL2 when Blizzard couldn't even keep D3 clean is astonishing.

Quite simply, what you want is not possible. There will always be cheating in one form or another in EVERY online game. Sure the developers can try to track and ban people for abuse however this requires an ongoing financial commitment to the game, and considering they do not charge for use of their servers how do you expect them to compensate for the massive amount of money they would lose trying to secure servers and ban cheaters?

Seriously, think about it. Nobody said it was ok, or that they love cheating. The FACT is it is not economically feasible to combat cheating without charging monthly subs or going the D3 route with micro-transaction route and they still cannot stop cheating. PoE will have plenty of cheaters too, regardless of the companies stance on the matter.

Evry game lives or dies on online bit? Are you joking... Look from morrowind, to oblivion, games that don't even have a online part.

Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim survives because of the mods. And where do you find the mods? Online. And when I say mods, I mean proper mods. New weapons, new monsters, new areas, even total conversions.

For what i know, the mod engine is not publish yet, so please, dont be a jerk, the game have 1week and is pretty awesome, cool work, and cheap...

And the game is not supossed to have private servers since the begginig, because of the cost, so this is not a online competitive game like you want obviusly, because the system is not private, is like open bnet in d2; anyways, there r rumors about make private servers, could be great.

And in grimdawn will be cheaters to, because they dont going to buy private servers to the game, same as tl2, srry man.

Hold up there pardner...You're pissed at the cheating in D2, and you're pissed at the steps they took to stop cheating in D3...

Basically what you want is some perfect world where nobody attempts to cheat so there are no cheaters and no reason to do anything to stop them...

You're new to this planet, aren't you?
I don't have sig :D -- gracy123
I have enjoyed TL2 to its finest, and guess what, I do NOT cheat. I do not give a flying damn, if other cheats, more POWER to them, or sux for them to use em. I play this game for FUN. I do not have to worry about other's EPEEN or the lack of (hint hint), and play to my leisure.

The only thing I will use the mods for will be to add more contents to the game like new dungeons, quests, npc, or possibly more items. It is endless since we all know a lot of peeps have a lot of good ideas to implement once the mod editor pops up for download.

If I want FUN and COMPETITION, PoE is the one for me. However, I am still on break since I am still waiting for OB. I will check the game time to time to see the effect of the updates that GGG likes to do a lot. lol

ExileDude, the only thing disappointing was you, yourself, being disappointed. TL2 has nothing to be disappointed about, you expect too much out of something. I have no problem with that, but please do not make it like TL2 was released to be perfect in some way. I know I might be nitpicking, but that is how I perceived from your posts in the thread. Again, I may be off completely, but that is how I FEEL from your posts.

What killed it for me... was the fact you can change your difficulty setting to any difficulty after you first select it. You can grind on easy then turn on elite whenever you feel like it. Cheapens the experience, knowing beating the game on elite means nothing, because you'll always be questioned about that sort of thing.

But then again, elite was so piss easy, I'm horribly confused why they didn't dedicate an actual hard difficulty to the game.

I figure any game that allows itself to be modded comes with the caveat of player willpower alone dictating difficulty.

It was certainly this way with Torchlight 1, I don't see why people expected any different here.
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.

Actually, I loved Diablo 3. Finished it on Normal with every character, Nightmare with three and made it to Act 3 on Hll with one. What ruined it for me was the lack of interesting loot. I found one Legendary hat in Act 2 on Normal (!), and that's it. But check the official forums and random game forums around the internet, before and after D3 launched. See how many people complain about having to be online the whole time? That's quite a lot, actually. Enough people to fill up a small country called Complainostan, actually. I guess you can call the natives whinesians. :p

I know people will always cheat. It sucks, but that's how the world is, even outside games. Do you really think all the professional athletes play fair? Sure they do, back in Wonderland. The rest of us cheat the crap out of everything just to prove we are better than everyone else.

What I hate about Torchlight 2 isn't that people cheat, but that people are encouraged to cheat. That's crossing a line. Runic could have done a few simple things to pretend they don't want us to cheat, but they do the opposite. They do the same thing as you. They just shrug and go "what did you expect?"

Now think about their Torchlight MMO-project. They openly say they don't care that people cheat in TL2, so what does that make of TL:MMO? How far do you think they'll go to stop cheating? I'd say a step backwards...

But I guess the problem was I played Neverwinter Nights back in those days. That 'game' was fun. It wasn't even a game, but mostly an editor with a game slapped on for fun. Last I checked, it had more than 3.000 new adventure modules made by the fans. It has at least two entire communty expansion packs, full of monsters, weapons, scenery and all that made by the fans. There could even still be people playing it.

Torchlight 2 could easily have been a Neverwinter Diablo, if they had wanted to. Instead we got a lot of players who looooves to cheat, and hardly anyone who dods anything useful with the editor. New classes? New levels? New monsters? Screw that, let's cheat! Woohoo! :/

Sometimes I cheat at Klondike Solitaire. Just saying.. You should probably hat me.

Regardless of "cheaters" cheating their way through their own cheaty game, there will still be inspired modders, modding new balanced awesome mods for you to enjoy. How about you QQ less and go join their discussions to provide feedback on their project...

Give it a year or two, and I guarantee you a few well to do people will start hosting their own servers to play their mods on.
