Perpetus in City of Sarn

No matter what my stats, no matter what my level, no matter what my armor etc, Perpetus kills me like he's cutting through butter. He uses bear trap, and with 40% damage reduction and 1800 health, is trap alone hits me for 50% of my health, then he finishes me off as I stand there, unable to move and he is ranging me. To farther complicate this encounter, he's surrounded by archers. Even on normal, he has killed me dozens of times. The damage is absolutely unavoidable and even with flasks and insanely high health regen, you cannot regen through the damage.

When I was on my casters, I just assumed it was because I was squishy, but now that I am on a full armor and health build, he's still slicing through me easily.

I think this guys needs reassessed and perhaps the damage scaled back, or, at the least, make him a solo encounter. Even alone, his damage is unmanageable.

When built correctly, casters are vastly tankier than health + armour builds.

Perpetus is definitely the hardest boss (except act end bosses!) for the level.

Fortunately, he's also the easiest to avoid. Just keep to the left and avoid the houses, and you'll always miss him. He spawns in amongst the houses.

Is that 1800 HP on merciless btw? If so, your stats do matter, but not your armour (it doesn't help much vs bear trap since the damage is so high, so your reduction will be much less than 40%). Health matters a lot though. Get some more HP to make him easier.

It's 1800 on cruel, not merc. I am very high health for the level.

Not sure if I've fallen into this trap. Where does Perpetus hang out in Sarn?

Just making the debate here, but if an area boss is so difficult to kill, that everyone just avoids him, should he not be looked at and perhaps adjusted a bit? Once you pull him, even if accidentally, you might not be able to avoid him after that, because he doesn't necessarily reset back to his original location.

BTW, for people wanting to avoid him, hang on the wall HARD. The houses he spawns between is actually not too far from the wall.

It depends on the map layout. Usually I just walk down the 'main road' on the left, and don't see Perpetus unless I actively search for him.

If you haven't noticed, there are buildings all over Sarn, up until the battlefront...
