Maps for end game isn't enough
Make stupid hard maps that punish you.
200% increased monster pack size 50% XP loss on death 60% monster attack speed 50% added monster damage as chaos 100% more item quantity, 50% more rarity etc That'll keep people busy for a while. |

I actually agree with that.

I have yet to find a map in the entirety of Merciless, including killing Vaal Oversoul.
I can't see how this is an improvement over the last mechanic when IIQ determined map drops. For Ranger build tips, tactics, and critiques, visit this thread:

Add ubers, add more uniques, add more skills, and then just reset all the characters every 7 months.. You can still sell cosmetics from a microtransaction shop similar to what maplestory does..
Endless dungeons aren't a bad idea either. |

Games that I believe have a good end game is games like WOW, Rift, Shadowbane (PVP type of game).
Common things the first 2 (non PVP games) are gear and group fights that challenge people to play well, and have good gear. PVP type of games is something to fight/defend. None of these are ARPGs though, as far as ARPGs this is the best by far. I love the map system, I believe you could push it even more with harder mods with better rewards. Another key issue is balancing of builds/classes. Right now groundslam HP build is really just blows everything else out of the water. So some of the mods on maps that would be hard for most builds is still pretty easy for this build. I wouldnt mind if maps were end game at all, just want a little more punishment for rewards. |

I'd like to propose boss instances too, to be made in party, or random calls throughout the day to beat a certain boss that anyone can apply (then divided in instances of out to a certain amount of players to avoid crowded fights). Also random Team vs. Team calls when PVP is applied, it's really fun to join a band for a while an beat the crap out of each other for no good reason. Further more, if you're a templar or some kind of buffer, you'd feel like you're really helping in a TVT. |

I think that unique maps are going to be very important for the endgame. Unique maps that have crazy dungeon designs, that include puzzles or maybe that change the gameplay or some mechanics in an interesting way will contribute to make the game more awesome and maintain the players playing the game.
There could be dungeons with very unique environments, like crystal caves or volcano caves each with new monsters and unique bosses with some short dark story behind. There could be maze dungeons where you have to escape before the time ends. Maybe there could be survival maps where monsters come at you stronger each time. There could be maps where you are having a nightmare and you don't have a left arm or maybe you could find it only after killing the boss (if not you are permanently only right-handed) :D Oh, I like this :) (a very special reward this map should deserved), and so and so... I know this kind of maps will make me play this game at least until 2020 :). |

" I'd have no interest in playing a game that reset all my characters every 7 months. Especially if I'm busy with life and don't play for a few months or longer. IGN: DrunkBarbarian / SupernalScion

crawlmax from borderlands comes to mind, its the endgame hidden boss and its always character level +3 so you always get appropriate loot from it.

Realistically, if you want an end game that will satisfy the current generation of players (we have all been spoilt for years now) then you need player driven or player generated content. PVP and ladder races are a good start.
To throw an idea in the mix: Guild Controllable Maps. X number of static instances that may be controlled by a guild. Controlling an instance generates orbs/maps/items for that guild. Within normal maps, players from other guilds have a chance to find a map that lets them enter and assault the controlled instance at a set time/date, perhaps with a week or so to prepare (no alarm clocks). Six vs six pvp ensues and the winner takes control. Idea ripped off from Lineage 2 / Eve. |
