Manually trading with people is great fun!

Let us build a monument to the most frequently observed trade dialogues that we see repeat over and over and pay them homage:

Please share your experiences of how much FUN trading manually in PoE is so we can share the joy and happiness of our fair and fine barter system!

1. The "I won't make an offer, or set a price, but instead I'll try to get you to do that and then insult you repeatedly because I'm awesome" Trader

Leet Trader: "How much is your Koam's chest?"

Joe Poe player: "Um I'm taking offers on it right now, would you like to make an offer?"

Leet Trader: "nah, just tell me how much it is to buy it out."

Joe Poe Player: "Uh I don't know like 20 exalted orbs."

Leet Trader: "Your a total noob, wtf, I'll offer you 1 alchemy orb for it."

Joe Poe Player: "Well that seems kind of low to me..."

Leet Trader: "Whatever noob bye."


I mean with experiences like this who wouldn't love our current trading system.

Ok so maybe negotiation isn't your cup of tea, so lets just set up a set price shop and see how that goes:


2. The I don't read anything or consider what anything means trader:

Leet Trader: "How much are your oblivion tread rare boots?"

Joe PoE player : "Um, what thread did you find them in?"

Leet Trader: "Joe's 1 chaos shop"

Joe Poe Player: "What spoiler did you find it under?"

Leet Trader: "1 chaos boots'

Joe Poe Player: "...."

Leet Trader: "So wtf noob you gona tell me how much these are or what?"

Joe Poe Player: "they are 1 chaos...."

Leet Trader: "I'll give you 1 alchemy max"

Joe Poe Player: "I don't really want to negotiate that is why I made a shop with set prices and....."

Leet Trader: "Whatever noob F' you I'm out!"


ahh the joys of manual trading in Poe, with many great experiences like these I cannot even begin to imagine why some "noobs" want automated trade shops ;-)

The most annoying thing is that when someone doesn't want an offer they just don't reply. It's so rude it's unbelievable. I try my best not to do it unless someone offers so low that they don't deserve a reply (I.E 1Chaos on An Ex item or 1Ex on a 10Ex item.)

Sellers not having a clue how much they want for an item and buyers not having a clue how much they want to pay for an item is equally frustrating as well.

People don't seem to understand that you CAN'T run an auction without an end time. It's pointless. Set a reserve and let it run.

Thats why i have a shop I don't care with stuff worth below 1 exa in it, and a junk storage account, so i can literally say "pfff" to those people and shrug it off. Don't trade via trade channels, they suck, and people there are super annoying. You can kinda grind 1 exalted per day in this game, selling stuff for 1-2 chaos is bull. Just don't save yourself the stress and don't give your hard work to turds for scrap.

Yeah, trading in PoE could be really "fun" :D
Some people think they have "unbelievable treasure" and asking stupid prices
Some people try to sell uniq (they heard it cost a lot) for high price, but their item is 1-2Socket =_=
Some just don't get the "levelling item" concept (some guy was asking 4 GCP for 1Socket Mightflay (35lvl uniq dagger))


But i always wanted to know "with what part of their body are they thinking" about next seller:

(seller) - Selling *random nonQ gems* for 4 Alts each
(me) - Hi, i want to buy *X* gem
(seller) - okay, what would you offer for it?
(me) - o_0
you're selling gems for 4 Alts each...
(seller) - really?
.....

Today, Live in standard:

me: - Hi i wtb your item from your shop, u listed it for 20 chaos.
him: + Oh
+ A1norm
- Ok, but i have only 14 Chaos. Can i give u 6 Regrets plus those 14 Chaos?
+ no
+ 20 Chaos
- but a regret is same or more worth actually. Well, do u like 2 Fusings for each chaos?
+ 20 chaos....
- Can i give u some gcps? I give u 4 gcps and 14 Chaos, thats pure overpay, whatever u want,
but i only have 14 chaos.
+ no
- Will u please wait till i trade my orbs for chaos?
no answer/saw him then in lunaris 2 mins later
i traded fast 2 Fusing per chaos, normal rate, 3 minutes
and then we finally traded, i thought that he wont react now or smth else, but he did :)

So a good ending here. But...well...nevermind.

This trading-system feels like its from before millenium

+1 to OP, except for the title, i'm not pleased by such behaviour.

The worst moment for me was when i was selling a searing touch. After a long ocntract, we agreed on the 3 Regret price. Then at the last moment (when he should click accept), the bidder said that he 'did not see that low fire damage roll'. I sell it two days later for 1gcp + 2 chaos.

Had like a million encounter like these.. but maybe the most memorable one is:

me- trade chat: Selling 17% Quality Gem (cant remember wich one, but high demand) !!!

Player X: I offer 2 chaos

me: lol

Player X: what u want for it then?

me: 5 GCP

Player X: HAHAHA U F***N NOOB!!

Player Y: Hey what u want for the gem?

me: 5 GCP

Player Y: LOL youre stupid haha!

me- trade chat: ALL YOU F***N RETARDS OFFERING 2 CHAOS FOR 17% GEMS AND THEN EVEN HAVING THE NERVES TO CALL ME A NOOB, DO WORLD A FAVOUR AND SHOOT YOUR F***G BRAINS OUT

Player Z: Haha, noob!

Henry_GGG: Hey mate I unfortunately have to mute you for 10 mins!

So, as a total noob, I have to completely agree with the sentiments posted here. I've successfully traded one time, and the person was awesome. However, getting that trade was a gigantic pain in the ass, and since then I have been trying to get other things through whatever available channels I can.

My experience is like this:

Me: What do you want for X

Trader: X exalts

Me: I don't have exalts, what else will you take?

(Insert random fruitless back-n-forth here, everyone's time is wasted.)



At this point, I'm lost completely, as I have no frame of reference WHATSOEVER as to the value of anything in this game.

WTS A / B / C ~~ Msg with Offers, No Offer = No Reply
