The Holy Grail against Reflect
Vaal Pact.
It's one of the 2 reasons CI is considered superior to Life, the other is the larger "life" pool. So why is Vaal Pact so punishing against Life-Based Chars and doesn't affect ES-Based at all? No Reason I can see, maybe because they have to take Ghost Reaver for it, but it's on the way to Nullification anyway. Imho there are 3 Options to balance this disparity. 1) the hard equaliser - give Vaal Patc a "cannot recharge ES", so that ES-Chars are just as screwed when getting low with Vaal Pact chosen as Life Chars. 2) the medium equaliser - take away the "cannot recover Life from Flasks", so that Life-Based Chars can use it, can use Flasks to bridge the gap in effective HP-Pool to CI chars, but have to forego all Lifereg 3) the easy equaliser - take away the "cannot regenerate Life", this way a Life-Based Char can run away if getting low and still recover without going to town just like any ES-Char, just slower I think I read somewhere that CI won't regenerate Life via Zealots Oath if they take Vaal-Pact or enter a No-reg Map after a future patch (or even now, dunno) - if this will be / is the case the third option would strengthen Vaal Pact again for CI and I feel it has to have a downside somehow for everyone. I would like to see number 2 in the game, just to make Life more viable, especially in combination with crit-builds. does anyone care to share his or her opinion? |

I dont think any build or keystone should let you neuter reflect. As it stands, reflect is the biggest contributor to lack of passive build diversity and curbs dps for anyone who cant mitigate it through poor game design.

Imo reflect is necessary for Build diversity or else it's just how you do the most dmg possible, it forces you to balance your Build and find effective ways between survivability and dmg. If you want to know what happens when there is no reflect go look at D3 nado-Barbs facerolling the game ;)
Vaal Pact is OP as it is, but the fact that only ES can use it doesn't make it any better. |

My suggestion would be to change it from "no recovery from flask" to 3 or 4 pots only.

Also, why is it that ANY build besides Totem builds that comes up with a viable way of dealing with reflect...
People want it nerfed? Is that how this works? Does everybody in this thread and game use Totem builds? Are they supposed to be the only build that can deal with reflect easily without being some shield/armor/evasion/spell block mega tank? Nerfing reflect is a good example of dumbing down of game mechanics. Typical casual player who doesn't want to use his noggin to overcome the problem, and wants to alter the rules of the game mechanics, quoting 'build diversity' I puked.
POE is a constantly evolving game, so expect balance changes, buffs and nerfs STILL!
