IM So over the broken rng in this game....

Fun fact.

" That is one possibility, yet. Then again, if they actually made farming/crafting more viable they would've retained me for longer than a few weeks and more importantly, more than $20. Somehow I managed to play D2 for years where loot was about 10 zillion times easier to come by. POE held me for weeks. The moment I realized I would never get a drop I equipped and never be able to craft a piece for myself I was done with this game. I don't trade. I don't group. My comments reflect that.

" I'm not necessarily against the game in this area but I don't really buy the argument that the drops have to be like this in order for the game to last. Even if I had most of the best gear in the game right now and was rich I would still continue playing because I love making builds. I feel thats the strongest pull of the game. Plus new uniques keep getting added to the game so you can't acquire everything, you have to stick around and see how the game changes. However if GGG's intentions were to only keep players who not only love the style of game but have an unholy amount of time on their hands then I would say that they are succeeding. I look at myself as an exception to the rule because I love this style of game and I don't let myself get upset just because I can hardly find anything good because I can't play ten hours a day. I try to enjoy it for what it is even though the drops are very disappointing and crafting is a bust. Standard Forever Last edited by iamstryker#5952 on Jul 23, 2013, 8:45:56 AM

" Yep. I love the idea of the crafting system. Too bad it doesn't work. I want to make my own items, but I'm never successful. I grind for a week, collect orbs, try to upgrade my gear, and I always end up broke with no gear improvement, or worse, items I cannot use until I collect more orbs to try and get back to status quo. Just changing the crafting system so that orbs do not destroy the existing item would be huge improvement. If I find some gloves with 3 sockets, all linked, and I go for that 4th socket, the Jeweler orb shouldn't destroy the item. While it make suck to have to use 75 orbs to roll that 4th socket, along the way I shouldn't have to worry about every attempt destroying the existing sockets and links. The Jeweler orb should just add the socket or not. Period. If it were up to me, Jeweler/Fusing orbs would have a binary result: - Success = +1 socket or link - Failure = no change For example, if you find some gloves with 1 socket, use a Jeweler orb, base case scenario, you now have gloves with 2 sockets, no possibility for 3 or 4 sockets, no possibility of a link between the 2 sockets. The orb simply adds a socket or not. Linking the new socket to the existing socket, that's the Fusing orb's job. Worst case scenario, your item remains unchanged while you continue to use Jeweler orbs to get the second socket. Back to the 3 socket gloves with the 3 sockets linked, use a Jeweler orb, base case scenario, you now have gloves with 4 sockets, the 3 existing sockets still all linked, still all the same color, the new 4th socket not linked. Linking the 4th socket to the other 3 requires the use of Fusing orbs until the result says "fully linked item". Until then, all failed attempts leave the existing item unchanged. GGG could even leave the probabilities as they are now. Bottom line here, don't wipe out all the time and effort I put into playing the game. I don't mind being denied success, but don't destroy my item and force me to grind materials to restore my item to status quo. Edit... one more thought I don't care for the recently added "improved socket/linking chance" based on Item Quality. I found some rare boots a day or so ago that dropped decent affixes, 20% quality, and 1 socket. I was excited and thought, run a Jeweler and maybe a Fusing against them, I cannot lose. End result, upset that I lost the 20% quality. The first Jeweler roll was 2 sockets, unlinked. Really? I lost 20% quality for that? With that result, I don't want the "improved" chance. The item was better at 20% Quality and 1 socket. Last edited by Galtrovan#5344 on Jul 23, 2013, 12:31:45 PM

Do you know what this game's RNG feels like?
Let's say you have 100.000 players. The probability of crafting 4 red sockets / 4 linked on a random glove is 0.1%. So 100.000 players try it at once. The probability is that 999.900 players might fail and might become frustrated. Or 1 player try it 1000 times. There is a chance of failing 999 times and then rage quit. Or 1 player becomes addicted and turns into a newspaper headline "player dies after playing PoE for 42 hours straight". I wouldnt say the RNG is broken.
Its just presently weighted in such a way that 99.9% of the time you make your item unusable. At this point Im wishing I could get a refund for my MTX points and have the effects removed from my account because with recent developments this is not a game I would have supported had I just joined today. Secret recipes allowing a small group of players to exploit the rest for profit, awful RNG that never gets better, only worse. All sorts of stuff is just making this game so shitty. I grind and grind and grind never get good drops. No decent currencies. 4 Exalts in over 1000 hours with only 3 of them dropped. But my next upgrade if I purchased it is anywhere from 8-15? Fucking stupid. Having spent an insane number of scraps and fusings trying to 6l a glorious plate, maybe not 2k of each but at least 1k and no success. But other people get random 6l off 1 fusing or just a few. Some new player drops a mirror of kalandra on the strand first time out far surpassing many people in terms of wealth even those with 1000+ hours, only to be scammed out of it by some predator for like an alch or something because it is useless for them at the moment and an alch would serve them so much better. This whole system is just awful. Come release time all the new players will come and go in an instant because all the people who enjoy heavily weighted RNG and massive grindy time sinks is already here. If they dont relax the RNG at the very least the community will not grow much bigger than it is now. A community this size cannot be sustained forever, not even if Charan volunteered to pay for it. |
