This. It is downright hysterical how scared everyone is of throwing out the first amount of currency in a trade.

thats what haggling is all about.
If you are selling a shitty item just say whatever, but if you think the item is good start with a higher price than what you want to get. If the other party haggles too you'll get to some agreement in the end...

Unfortunately some (a lot) of people think that when a price is given it is set in stone so they give up immediately..

What do you guys expect?

Most people playign this game are under 15 years old.
The rest of the 'end-game' content will be available along with a heap of new stuff when the game launches in a few months time. From what I've seen it's going to be awesome. - Michael_GGG
I also think it is hilarious after trading for a few hours and seeing most of the same crap regurgitated over and over then seeing a new person come in with selling xxxx c/o 15 chaos. What current offer, this was the first mention of the item. :p

If you think it is worth at least 15 chaos then say starting bid is 15 chaos, come at me bros.

Player 1: Selling "X" Item!
Player 2: Ill Buy for 2 GCP Ill be home in an hour Im not home atm
Player 1: Ok

:1 hour later:

Player 2: Hey im home ready to trade?
Player 1: Already sold for 2 gcp
Player 2: ..................

Why agree to the trade if you dont plan to complete it?

if the players hadnt agreed to a trade i wouldnt be so irritated by this kind of behavior but they had

granted its player 1's item he can do as he pleases but thats just rude imo and bad manners
people like that get blacklisted for me i wont trade with them again

stop bidding on shit when ur not at home
Personally I avoid trading because there is little standardization in items value, more so in mid-tier gear, prices people expect tend to vary widely.

Some sort of AH (No Real Money involved) would go a long way to more conveniently trade items and currencies as well as bring some level of standardization to pricing, e.g. when it is easy to make comparisons between items you want to sell/buy and their prices.

At the moment it's quite difficult to contrast and compare items, item mods and their respective values. At the very least some sort of community effort to create a reference point for item mods and the value they add to items would be quite helpful.

E.g. Health/Armor/Resist/Armor % rolls each add abcd value to item depending on rolls equaling x value + base item type is y value + sockets/links adds z. Approximate value would be x+y+z

With such a reference point/guide players could make more informed decisions on selling and buying items.

Just because you refuse to do the math, it doesn't mean that we should provide you the math.

Furthermore, an item can very useful for someone with a certain build but less useful for certain with a similar build.

The best way is to do the math for your own character when buying items.

What does BM stand for in this context?

Bad Mannered

That doesn't really seem like a common enough thing to have shortened like that.

Personally, if you're not able to do the trade right now, you shouldn't be making offers right now. If you do decide to breach that bit of etiquette, then you should have no expectations of the seller treating you any better than you treated them. You treated them poorly by forcing them to sit on an item they're looking to sell now - so you should not be surprised when they decide not to pander to your BM (yeah, that just doesn't work).
