Advanced Tips when playing PoE

Hello,

I have decided to make a list of Advanced Tips. If you think something needs to be changed or added, please post it for me to edit into this post. These tips are not perfect, but I hope they may help some players out regardless!


¥· When grinding you want to look for items with quality. If you sell Weapons, Armor (any armor), Flask, and Gems with a total combined of +40% of the same type, you will get a currency of that type. (Example: Sell 4 Weapons with +10% quality each = 1 Blacksmith's Whetstone. Same goes for Armor, Flasks, and Gems.) To keep this easy, I only pick up Weapons and Armor with at least +10% quality.

¥· Check each NPC shop every level. The shops change items each level you gain. All the difficulties and acts have different items. So go back and check each one. You are looking for 2 things. (Also when grinding)
1) Items with 3 sockets linked with 1 of each color. Buy them and resell them for a Chromatic Orb.
2) Any Item with 6 Sockets. 6 Sockets are Very Rare. You can usually sell these on the chat, forums, or save it for yourself for later use.

¥· Every character should get a skill called Phase Run (Green Gem). If you want, you can combined it with a support gem to increase duration. This makes it a lot easier to get around the game or for those moments of needing a quick escape. Be careful not to level it too much (It requires more dex per increase).

¥· To get +20% quality gear easier, upgrade it as a White. Each increase is +5% as a white, +2% as a blue, and +1% as a rare or unique. The downside is that you have to roll for the stats you want which can get hard and expensive. So if you are not too greedy for specific stats, you can get +20% quality gears easy. (Personally I only do this for Weapon, Shield, and Chest Armor since they give the most benefits as +20% quality.)

¥· How to make a good Amulet with +20 Stats base? Keep an eye out for Amulets with less then that. If you sell a Blue, Red, and Green Gem with the Amulet, it can create a random +10-20 Stats for the base. (Rumors say the better Gems will give higher chance of +20 Stats). When selling you can keep switching out the Gems until it makes a +20. Also keep in mind you want to do this with high level Amulets.

¥· You can equip a 2nd Weapon and Shield. You can switch to these and use Auras on them and switch back to your main weapons. The Auras will stay active. Also, Gems in these will still level up even if you are not using those equips.

¥· If you have spare slots for Gems don't be afraid to level up different Gems when you can even if you won't use the Gems yourself. You can use the Gems for future classes since the Stash is shared between all your characters in the same League. {By: ExileDude}

¥· Monsters from 2 levels below you give no exp point penalty. It is also true that you gain no bonus from monsters above your level, regardless of how much above. However, any monsters of level 56+ will never give you an exp penalty. In other words, you could fight level 56 monsters at level 70 and get the same exp as if you were level 58. {By: TheSwampDog}

¥· Since you have drop rate penalty if your char level is 2 more than area level, it is usually better to control your char level by suicide if you just wish to farm. When you are in normal difficulty, death is a quick and easy way to refresh all your flasks and life/mana if you are close to a waypoint.

¥· You can always rely on Minion Summoning & Totems to scout ahead of your own vision, this can be very useful for Hardcore players. You can also use Curses in a room to have a better idea of how many monsters there are and to tell the difference from your own Minions. {By: BesucherXia}

¥· You can restart a map (instance) by holding Control + Left Click on the destination from the Waypoint or doing the same to the entrance of the map from another map. This will give you the option to start a new instance of that map and will also show how much time is left before the instance will restart.
