Game is too easy to me and others.

With my new character I'm actually experiencing the opposite. Normal was a total breeze, not a single death by doing nothing but spamming Frost Nova and Fireball. Now I'm going through Cruel and the habit of running in the middle and spamming Nova got me killed multiple times :D

It's really not that hard to go for a build which will almost guarantee zero deaths, but then it would appear to me you are forcing yourself to play the game in a fairly restricted manner. You won't get to experience the real variety this game has to offer.

If you choose to get a little more creative in your builds then the item/skill/passive system in PoE really does facilitate many different, exciting and interesting play styles.

Hey guys,

I'm a marauder that started playing during the free weekend. I've found it pretty impossible to die thus far. Well, the only time I died was when I encountered the Act 2 boss for the first time. Caught me by surprise big time, because until then I was face tanking everything. Anyway, I'm on the third difficulty now slugging through act 1 and I haven't died yet.

Honestly, I feel like the game is sufficiently tuned in terms of damage and whatnot, but it's easy to avoid incoming damage. For instance, if I ever come close to dying I just walk away and use a pot. For some reason, monsters have a terribly hard time hitting a moving target. It's also for that reason that I can run through the entire game basically without taking any damage.

In terms of sticky situations, I feel like the only time the game has been difficult so far has been random events where two or more bosses are spawned near each other. Obviously, face tanking those can be hard without good gear. But even then, monsters don't chase so it's extremely easy to split them up.

If I were to suggest any changes, it would be for monsters to chase for a longer amount of time, and change something so that running through areas is impossible without taking a good bit of damage.

Marauder can get a bit insane when it comes to survivability.

I found everything fairly easy with him, but my ranger is still having issues with the Act 1 boss right now (only level 14)....at the same level, my Marauder straight up tanked the SIren without even flinching.

If you still find it too easy, make it harder on YOURSELF on purpose...it adds spice and its fun to do so.

Its like playing Mario Bros without getting a mushroom, little mario only. Sometimes you have to impose your own limits.

Sure, you can always iron man it, play funky builds etc. to ramp up difficulty. That's not what I'm talking about though.

I'm talking about a flaw in the difficulty where act 1 normal is harder than the (currently) final act in the game on merciless, aside from a few encounters.

Disclaimer: I guess before I make a statement that the difficulty system is flawed, I should admit that maybe it's just too easy on my particular build. I've only taken one character through to merciless so far, a staff wielding, ele damage, lightning striking templar with as much armor/life/life regen as I can muster. So maybe it's just my build. I know that Cruel was a bit more difficult on my witch, my shadow is handling cruel pretty easily though.

I'm pretty comfortable with the difficulty.

I'm not here to play Diablo 3 inferno all over again, my tolerance for bullshit is very low at this point :)

I would quit a game without question with shitty game testing.
I am going to go a step further than everyone else.

If you want a challenge try a Chaos Inoculation and Eldritch Battery combo build in Hardcore.

If you can beat the game like that then it is too easy.

(Yes, my challenge to the OP is to beat the hardest difficulty act 2 with 1 hp on hc)
i don't understand all the trolls and flamers.

The game was easy for me, it seems there are others that experienced what I did as well.
It's like - playing normal is a challenge, then cruel/ruthless/merciless up to a2 boss was a grindfest, and the a2 boss of merciless picks up where normal left off in terms of difficulty.
The content in the middle is just mind numbing ezmode farming/grinding.

i did not study any builds before hand from forums, i just decided to wing the skill tree after a bit of brief planning. The total respec helped but my char wasn't gimped either then.

@hc - hc is an option but then again it can be made easier by simply out lvling/out gearing the content. - and many people have beat the game on hc mode, doesn't that make it too easy?
@trying weird builds - when you find a weird op build and the game is again easy, what then?
@self imposed restrictions to make game harder / 1hp build - do you write with your toes because writing with your hands is too easy?

I have not traded for one single item and have suffered many deaths in the game. The challenge is spot on for me. I would say if your trading for gear of course its going to be easy. I like to find my gear so I play the game and the difficulty ramps up accordingly. I have a Marauder in 2nd to last difficulty who is within a level of my new char who is just entering cruel. He was a bit easier thanks to the resis and extremely high block % i went for. Your build is most likely a good build is all and the leap you gained by trading gear would be the reason for op-ing everything
You're not just talking about difficulty, but also learning curve, which is artificially inflating the difficulty at normal. This is an issue with the learning curve, not with the relative difficulty. Start a new character, and you may find that you can snooze through normal with ease.

That being said, regardless of the cause I think the end effect you experience is a valid point. All the great systems of this game also create a pretty steep barrier to entry. But given a lot of the feedback fall in the nature of 'great game if you can get past the first few hours/levels' I'd suspect that tutorial/help will eventually become a priority as they progress through the beta.

What's your DPS in that build? How efficient at farming is it? Not dying is not as important as farming efficiency in default league.
