Blacksmith needs to be changed ASAP. enough is enough
It seems to me, that your sole argument is that everything in the game should be tuned to be beaten by bad builds.

If after all the advice given you still can't defeat him just decide it is a map that you can't do and move on. Just like some map mods certain builds can't do.

" It should be tuned to be beaten by pure skill. I know what I'm talking about here. In Sc2, if my build is bad but I'm a vastly superior player I can still compensate for that. In PoE this simply isn't the case, it has very restrictive gameplay in that sense. " Have you been reading? I told you, I can kill him with my endgame gear just fine, but it's impossible with my MF gear on. Which, BY DEFINTION, makes him a gear-check boss, which is BAD for the game. No kiting in the world, no funny strats in the world can keep my char alive when I have my MF gear on, however I can kill him just fine with my normal gear on. None of that is the case with any other 66 bosses. Dried Lake I have to kite and evade attacks, based on skill. Grotto I have to dodge fire, still can do it with enough skill, same goes for dungeon, tropical island, etc... the only boss I can't kill with MF on, no matter how much I kite or dodge is the blacksmit. he is 100% a gear check boss and the worst designed boss in the entire game, BY FAR. Pointing this out, doesn't make me a casual, I would even go as far as to say that I am probably one of the most skilled gamers who have ever even touched this game. I placed Top 8 World Cyber Games in H2 back in 2005, I'm high master in SC2, even owned up Anarchy League day 1. So get that casual shit out of the way, and let's be real here. The blacksmith is a terribly designed boss, anyone who disagrees with that is lacking a functioning brain. And please go ahead and call me a noob or casual and I will again point out that I would easily own you in any game you could possibly think of. Go ahead, try me. #1 Victim of Murphy's Law. Yeah, you put on gear that has MF rather than defensive/offensive stats and then complain when you take damage. You put your good gear on and you can beat him no trouble.
It's like complaining about walking on broken glass in bare feet, after choosing to take your shoes off. GGG, I took all my gear off and now I get I shot by everything in the game. Nerf everything accordingly please. It's only "fair". |

Blacksmith probably isn't that hard in a group when there are lots of people to jump at (haven't tried yet though) but is damn hard solo. He basically jumps on me at least every 2 seconds and takes 70-80% of my health. Good thing is that I don't care about him and just kite him off screen with fireball, which is just as ridiculous as the Blacksmiths new attack.
I never understood why developers implemented one hit (or close to one hit) mechanics in their games. |

Why are you comparing Starcraft to PoE? Some builds are weaker vs. vertain types of encounters, that is the way it works when you build a character in an RPG. Pure skill based games are never RPG's. RPG's rely on levels, gear and stats. They balance skill with character power. Blacksmith was far, far too easy before. Now he is kind of challenging. |
