I didn't of course, no names. But considering how everything happened, it was clearly his drop.
Here is how I see the idea of loot options.

Loot options would allow people to have fun wrong. You need to have fun the way you're told to or you should just leave.

Yes. Incorrect fun is not fun at all.
There's nothing to be said.

I don't understand why you all are still talking about it. Changes will come, as they have been and time goes on. If you have nothing new to say, I suggest stop talking so that GGG will spend less time reading this thread (I believe they do based on their actions with the loot system currently) and working more on the game and by that, the loot system.

Just my 2 whole copper pence.

People are unhappy, they will continue to discuss it. Not that hard to understand.

By the way, we're definitely listening to vocal feedback on topics like loot allocation. While we haven't said anything in the last few days, there is a lot of discussion occurring internally about various options for those systems. I'll post more once there's more information.

WOW. This is crazy. Of course I think its great news but this topic just keeps going back and forth and back and forth. Lets nail down whats going to happen if anything and move on. I was just accepting that looting options would never happen and here we go again ;)

What is the problem with giving people options?

FFA lover's get what they want to do, Steal/grief/block/unsociable.

Instanced lover's get what they want, assigned/have fun in groups/make some great friend's/Share gear.

I just can not see a reason for options everyone wins.

I only solo because of the loot system in place. This results in me not even wanting to meet new people outside of the friends I already have which will have an adverse effect on my long-term enjoyment of the game since that's what keeps people coming back to a game.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents and put a vote for wishing there was an option for various loot settings.

I want to share a simple experience I had in a pub group the other day. I think it speaks a lot of how bad the loot system is for the game.

So I was farming docks with randoms. Of course a lot of ninjaing attempts were going on from everyone. Then, a MAP (!!!) droped. I spoted it first, click click click... I got it just as the person who's droped it was was closing in.

He didn't say a word, he just left the party. I would have given it to him if he had stayed and QQed (I'm not short on maps). Tried to message him, he had logged off. He was probably mad, given how rare maps drops are. I fully sympathies with him.

This is how bad the loot system is for the morale of players in the game. It made me feel bad, it made the victim mad, but how can I not ninja stuff when everyone does it to me?

Just wondering what makes you think it was his? Even tho, the game is clearly FFA.

But even if it was 'his'. How did you know it wasn't anyone elses? Since there is no name. For all you know he could have lagged out and you are just assuiming things.

And what the hell is a ninja attempt? You make it sound as if people shouldn't be picking up drops just because of some chance timer. Just playing the game as is does not make anyone a ninja.

If you can loot something without doing ANYTHING in regards to earning it by simply being nearby, it's "ninja-ing"

The argument that "it's not yours til you take it" is like saying "that oxygen isn't yours til you breathe it" then sticking a plastic bag over your head and laughing as you choke.

sorry but I'm an "lets give folks the option to avoid the drama" kinda guy, no reason not to be, when I see people defending FFA loot I immediately think

It's just... sure you're ENTITLED (lol) to think that looting is fine, you're ENTITLED to want it, but you shouldn't be ENTITLED to force it on others if ya get me?

Always find it ironic when entitlement is tossed at the instanced loot supporters, when really the same claim can be made towards everyone if you think about it.

Instanced loot probably coming soon then, very much expected.
