Coming out of retirement to answer this...I personally warmly welcome this change but it isn't ideal.

However I ask this of this the pro-FFA loot "hardcore" side...

Looking back, would arguing for the compromise (ie loot options) not have been better in the end?? Now you've lost your cutthroat FFA system and have nothing to show for it. The carebears only ever wanted an option that kept the old system in the game intact, so everyone would be happy. But no, couldn't see your way to compromise, could you? Now you've lost your old system completely, and I have a new one that is only part of the way to what I wanted. Food for thought.
Did you know level 91 is the halfway point to level 100? This means that a softcore character dying ONCE at level 85+ can lose many days of progress.

I don't really know what they won?

Its barely a pop corn fart of an increased loot timer. But at least the names no longer appears on the item.

No more name on timers is what was needed for a while to remove peoples sense of entitlement.

The increased timers was not really needed tho but what ever. Its not like it matters.

I like that point. Now people can't make those stupid groups with "loot goes to name" now.

I had no issues with the looting system other than it caused the map endgame to devolve into mostly a single player game. I will take a break to wait for new content to replace the current mapping system.
I really doubt that the namnes made that much difference. You still see if an item has dropped for you.

The increase in the timer was quite huge actually, so I dunno what kind of popcorns you have where you live Vuudo

Majority of complaints about loot have been about 'NINJA's stealing their items. Now, without any name on the timer its now a victimless crime no matter how you spin it.

I've always thought the NAME on the timer is/was a HUGE problem. Im glad to finally see it go. I think GGG would agree if you read this.

I suspect (and support) that players will still grab items if the other players aren't making any effort to get to them quickly. To some extent, removing the names is to try to reinforce that they are items for your whole party, not just for the person who happened to get the first chance at them.

Do you notice how he describes loot.. Pay close attention to it.

And really.. Its barely a second increase to loot timers. You call that huge?

What ever... :D.

AT least its not lame ass loot options or 10-20 second increase to timers. Thank GOD.

No, just because the nametag isn't visible doesn't mean it didn't drop "for you" in the very same sense as before.

Over 50% increase in the timer, that is alot IMO.

The game is getting further and further from your FFA, but loot options could stop that. I won't be surprised if next year it's the FFA supporters who are asking for loot options.

It's a 60% increase in the amount of time you have to grab the item. That's a lot. Before you had to be on the ball or you'd lose it if anyone else wanted it. It was honestly fine before, but I understand the increase for people who have bad latency.

Now that I think of it though, I think we could easily shave off a good .3 seconds and it would still be fine. Will test it out tonight.
