Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.
" No its not broken. I don't have to run public maps. I do it for fun. Also, there is no written rule that says end game is MAPS and MAPS only. If anything the actual portal system of maps makes me choose not to run high end maps because some people die toooo much. I run the lower end maps with easier mods just so the random people don't die every two seconds. Last night i ran 7 maps straight. During one map run NO maps dropped and someone offered a plain white 68 map so i would open another. I told him, its all cool and open another anyways. A good group is is sometimes worth more than map drops. |

" I am guessing that Ghostlight is fine with others getting their own map drops as long as the ones that drop for him goes to him. Standard Forever

In your case that is fine. A lot of people quit after 70 because there is no one to play with anymore unless it is with your friends. POE is a social game and is popular because people can quest together. No one wants to map with strangers and that is a problem. |

" Of course. Instanced loot means everyone would end up in more map runs because there would be more public Map runs. I do 2 or 3 Maps per night if I am lucky. 30 whole mins of endgame play. AMAZING. What a brilliant endgame. That'll keep the playerbase till Act 4 launches in 2014. If there were actually open public games running maps I could do a dozen a night. Did you know level 91 is the halfway point to level 100? This means that a softcore character dying ONCE at level 85+ can lose many days of progress.

Again, this makes absolutely no sense. If you're worried about losing a map now, you would have even LESS of a chance of getting it in an instanced system.
So, again, WHY would there by more map pub games? |

" It is. I have 3 maps to my name. 30 to 40 mins gameplay? Than I am all out of endgame unless I get lucky and more Maps drop. I can play for about 5 hours tonight. I'd need about 20 Maps to play meaningfully for that time. Will I get that with the 3 I have? No chance. I could run some public Map groups to make up the time. Oh no wait, I can't because there aren't any, due to godawful loot rules deterring them. If that isn't a broken endgame, I do not know what is. FFA lovers are really running out of straws to clutch at I hope. Did you know level 91 is the halfway point to level 100? " Because the loot system deters them. Not for Maps specifically, just the general dislike of ninjas. More public Maps runs means I'd get 20 or 30 Map runs per night instead of the 3 I get (when I'm lucky). Pretty sure if I do 20 runs instead of 3 I'll get more loot in general, including Maps. " There's still a chance he could get more maps playing like that. Its just random as to who the maps would drop for. He at least could enjoy a public party and know that IF a map drops for him he would get it without a chance of losing it. Standard Forever

" Judging by his posts, it sounds like he's a leecher in maps anyways. Since he equates the amount of maps he can run, completely based off of whether others are running them. So, might as well join an FFA group, he would have better odds at getting map to drop for him or by taking one that is unallocated. |

" Isn't it obvious? Pub groups with instanced loot would work different, than in current loot system. There would be groups "Instanced loot maps, everyone brings one level 70 map". |
