You people need to understand that non-competitive loot is already in the game and it's not ruining anything.
If everyone HAS to be forced into the competetive features, then why allow private parties or solo?

Common sense says anything is easier with friends/like minded people.

I like how instead of using this option some of you try to use it as a counter arguement against FFA loot...

I would dare say that one of the highest goals of games like these is to form a trusted circle of friends to play with. It is not easy at all. Loot "options" would let someone achieve the same benefits without having to make friends, trust anyone, be nice, or share.

Maybe there should be new monster that grabs items on the ground and runs off with them? Have them more attracted to rares and especially uniques. Then we could finally have some loot competition in solo too!

... sure, but I don't think that's entirely the point. Not everyone wants the dream of "loot competition" because honestly a lot of people would rather just kill kill kill everything in sight until thoughts of looting occur.

That option already exists...

Common sense says that if your vision is to provide X (FFA) to the player, then all players will receive vision of X. But if not all players are receiving X (people in friends only groups or solo), then why not give the people who don't want it the option of Y (other than FFA)?

You could almost use hardcore league in this example. Why make hardcore as a optional league if you could just delete your character if he dies yourself? Convenience? No... it's more than that.

Maybe a bad example, but just a thought...

I honestly don't see the issue.
Or do you think that because making friends isn't easy there should some ingame reward for it?
Isn't the fact that you have made a friend reward enough??

I suggested that hundreds of pages back! But they should not be killable.
It only makes sense.

... at my and others expense. You missed the point or avoided it entirely. Ninja=kick groups attempt such behavior, but we know it is a failed attempt.

I think adding support for guilds is a better way to build the community then forcing a loot system that inhibits the ability of player to socialize.

...and you assume we don't, why? O.o

It's simply used to point out that this supposed "hardcore" feature of the game is easy to circumvent as is. So why should it be forced on everyone in a public group? I'd point out the question that seems to get ignored when this point is brought up.
Spoiler
(If everyone HAS to be forced into the competitive features, then why allow private parties or solo?)

Again, not looking to remove FFA. Looking to add looting options and perhaps bring full FFA back into the game. Sure, might need to do some adjustments to how loot drops or is allocated in a non-pseudoFFA environment. But it would be nice to have it be there in public parties, because it already exists outside of them.

WRONG...

If you wanna play with your feet, take 5 hours to do a map and loot later you can. Every single way you want to play this game already exists.
