This issue is about a competitive feature that is ONLY forced onto players in public games.

You just said it yourself. It's a competitive feature and it can't be forced only to half of the players in the game.
If that happens in time FFA will be extinct 100% and even people who love FFA and are not ninjas will not sit with the disadvantage of the risk of being ninja'ed.
Because the alternative is a convenience and because it is a convenience it can't be addressed only to half of the players - it is as futile as the above things i quoted.

Megazordzillion times this. The insta-gratification casuals just don't (want to?) understand it. If you add "options", it's not the same for everyone anymore, therefore it will never happen. You got your loot timers already, why don't you stfu now and be happy that you even got those.
Simple solution:
- Make a timer that hinders ALL people from getting the item
- Make the timer invisible so that no one can see how long the item is locked
- After the timer has dropped zero, everyone can take the item

Advantages:
- This way, ranged characters have a fair chance to get every dropped item too
- No one thinks the dropped items are theirs because there are no timers with names anymore
- Less screen clutter because there are no more dozens of drop timers after killing rare/unique/boss monsters
- Looting is still exciting, because you don't know how much time you have until the item is unlockedfor everyone and it's FFA like the developers want it to be.

The beauty of it is I don't have to prove you wrong since you do nothing at all besides preach your very extreme opinions.

Thats ok because there are plenty of other FFA supporters that actually try to use arguments. I can spend my time proving them wrong and just ignore you. Yay.

You can`t prove me wrong because im simply telling it how it is. You have nothing but the troll comment because thats what kids on forums use nowdays when they have nothing.

Also, please ignore me then. I would like to see this instead of you calling me troll everytime i post something you dont like.

You don`t see me calling you troll every other post. Even tho i could. I just don`t. Its simple.

Those who in your words "avoid" FFA loot shouldn't be playing the game then.
Then they are trying to make the game something that it isn't.
There IS FFA loot and that's how it goes.
That's how it's designed, that's how it's supposed to be.
You adapt if you want to play.
And yes I would be affected because then I wouldn't be picking their shit up!
If I want to be a thief grabbing every exalted orb from the ground, this game let's me do it, and I love it.

Quoted in case of later editing.

Thanks for storing that little gem of information mobutu. I could have swore that FFA lovers just enjoyed the playstyle and weren't out to steal everything in sight. Guess here is a perfect example of what they normally claim NOT to be.

So loot options effects you because you would have less easy prey? Wow.

Rofl. I'm not claiming anything. I WILL steal your shit. And I love that I can do it. I WIN, you LOSE. Competition baby! Problems?

And then sometimes I play nice and don't touch other people's stuff.
You are just mad because you are too damn slow to pick anything up. Sucks for you, really.

I've always supported this idea. Other players seeing your timer annoys me. Something nice drops and combat stops while 3 people sit on top of it hoping to snag it when the timer runs out.

Timers without names is a good idea. But not invisible timers. How do you know if that loot is "your" loot for that small time (even though there is no "your" loot per se), or if the invisible timer is still going? You don't and that makes it stupid and frustrating.

I propose to keep the system as it is so that ranged chars have chance to pick stuff up and remove names from the timers. You can still know if that loot is "yours" if it's not grayed out.

If you could respec by just playing solo or playing with friends I wouldn't see the problems with allowing it in public games aswell.

A difficulty option would be awesome. More challenge? yes please!

You people need to understand that non-competitive loot is already in the game and it's not ruining anything.
If everyone HAS to be forced into the competetive features, then why allow private parties or solo? Your theories doesn't hold up against reality.

I guess you didn't understand my idea. The timer should HINDER ALL people from getting the item and only AFTER the timer has passed, EVERYONE can take it. That's why the timer should be invisible. So as soon as an item drops, you don't know how fast you must be to get it. Makes looting really exciting.
