*cough* So. If loot is divided by the number of players in your party, then instanced loot option is okay with everyone I'm assuming?

Yes

Once more with feeling.....

Most people who are asking for instanced loot as an option freely concede they expect to get LESS loot than they would with FFA, but they still want it. It is not about the loot, the ability to get loot, or the lack of skill (lol) in being a loot ninja. It is about other things, usually so that the game's sense of community improves, so that people concentrate on fighting instead of looting and sometimes just a general sense of equality.
Did you know level 91 is the halfway point to level 100? This means that a softcore character dying ONCE at level 85+ can lose many days of progress.

Not to be a dick or anything, but if all you guys do is fight, when do you find time to actually play the game?

Well, just as long as you realize none of this is getting anybody anywhere... ;)

Meh, i usually only just post on this thread when im at work bored. I never waste my time on this after work.

And really thats my point. As long as i can keep countering threads about loot my hope is it won't get none of them anywhere.

Except of course removing the damn loot timer once and for all. Since thats the only real issue.

Instanced loot should have a penalty or else nobody would play FFA anymore.

So you are saying no one likes FFA loot then? But wait....this entire thread has been "hardcores" arguing that FFA loot is where it's at. Have they simply been lying?

Assuming you are right....Fine if the option would result in no one playing FFA loot then FFA loot is not fit for purpose and should be removed immediately.

PS I don't actually think this, FFA loot should always be an option, just reacting to what you typed.

lol... You act as if people don't concentrate on fighting? The faster people kill the faster they get exp and the more loot that drops.

Are we even playing the same game? Or did you happen to play a few public games where peopel didn't do jack shit?

So much CareBear in that post i can help but think maybe this game isn't for you.

Its pretty boring actually. Its like playing alone. AKA. the loot bubble that even GGG describes.

That bubble does not exist AT ALL imo. The person who thought it up was simply an anti-social player imo. Let me elaborate....

Much as I hate it now, I put 500 hours into Diablo 3. Instanced loot right? Bubble? Nope. Because loot is instanced, the effect is no one feels antagonism to their fellow players. Instead you get instant camaraderie and a sense of teamwork. The result is plenty friendly chat. I ended up making dozens of new friends in that game without even trying. Some of them became very close, and three of them even moved to PoE with me!

Compare this to PoE. There are immediate barriers between players who do not know each other because essentially the others in a public game are your competition. Thus no one speaks (except to argue about loot as far as I can see - ironic). I have made zero new friends in this game. First time ever in more years than I care to remember that I played a multiplayer game for more than a few weeks and didn't end up with a gang of new acquaintances. Granted I do not play public games much and will never do so again. Not only was I loot ninjaed when I did, but also no one was remotely friendly, despite my best efforts. The social aspect of this game is terrible, and I put that down to loot (and also a poorly implemented chat, granted)

It very simple really. When strangers group with me, I am their competition. I am the guy who will pick up the Exalted Orb that have been playing for 6 months without seeing. I am the real enemy. Now THAT is a bubble. And damn hard to burst as well.

Try actually reading. I never said that was MY reason. I said it was A reason. Read my other post above. My reason if the better sense of community and improved social aspects to the game.

And to be personal, since you were, if FFA loot is the absolute core of the game for you, then I do not think this game is for you...

+1 current loot system harms the social element of this massive multiplayer game.

If you're gonna force people to play with (what they think) is a broken loot system then they will just leave the game. And while a certain someone here loves this "my way or the highway" approach, I'am sure the guys at GGG wouldn't wanna push players away from their game. I doubt any game dev would.

I agree and sincerely hope you are right and that GGG care slightly more about players leaving their game than certain so-called supporters seem to. At the end of the day money is money, even if it is a casual player's money. It's commendable that GGG want to stay true to their dark and hardcore vision, but seeing FFA loot as part of that vision is rather silly imo. It's not dark nor even cutthroat. It's just ANNOYING and a severe deterrent for many players. Why annoy your players?

Seriously. SCREW your sense of community and improved social aspects angle. There already exists communitys with great social aspects, which people can join anytime they want.

I thought this was a ARPG with FFA loot.. Not a carebear MMO love fest that needs to be just right for everybody.

Why not? It worked with Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, where people who were whining about the constant invasions of other players interfering with their "style of play" when playing online (which was the intended full experience). I heard people plea for an invasion "off" switch, but they were just forced to play the game offline or in soulmode (which halved your total HP, but made it so that you couldn't be invaded by others).

Never played Demon Souls, but Dark Souls has a no invasion mode, presumably because of the complaints they got with Demons. They listened to their customers. Dark Souls outsold the first game by a considerable margin.
