Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.

Masses do not complain about something they are unaffected by.
There is a part of them that are legitimately annoyed with the system even though they get more than they lose, but these are few. Obvious reason needs no extra proof, the evidence is in the wording itself, in plain view of all. I am the light of the morning and the shadow on the wall, I am nothing and I am all. " Not so long ago it was obvious that Earth was flat and that witches should be burnt. Obviously no proof was needed and it was all right and good. |

" This also means, that my opinion matters the most, because i am very good at looting, have a good internet conection and still I am heavily against it. usually people are for something if they profit, but this also means, that there opinion is biased and pretty worthless in terms of figuring out what is best. If you are able to make up an opinion which does not correlate with your own advantage, it probably has some depth. Not like: "ME WANT FFA LOOT, I TAKE ALL LOOT, FFA IS GUUD!" damn, I start to despise this community after watching this thread. so many morons. A lot(not all!) people are just plain stupid. its a shame that people still argue about this topic as its so clear. But in the end it breaks down to this: Those who think they profit from the system are for it, and those who lose are gainst it. Only very few people try to see the whole picture. So we have 49% who think they profit from it, and 49% who think the lose and 2% remain who try to figure out what is best despite their own interest. This is probably the reason why we have 700+ pages, because 49% vs 49% cant come to an end. And trying to see the whole picture I want to point out those 2 very important facts: 1, FAA loot forces the player to play "bad" because he has to dive enemies (as non melee) 2, The looting process becomes extremly tedious, because of the mess on the screen No "he has more loot then me *cry" or "Loot system is good because blabla(any crappy arguement to justify the own greed) just 2 simple facts which make the whole discussion needless. Those 2 points i mentioned are COMPLETE DEVASTATING for FFA loot. No way the advantages of FFA loot can make up for these problems. JUST NO WAY! As much this thread annoys it as much I am positive that in the end GGG will fix it and we will have eitherthe choice between loot system or instanced loot. Reason will find its path in the end, undoubtedly. Its just a matter of time. |

" Sorry but if it's so obvious, point out where it is. Christopher Hitchens - "That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence." From what I've read it seems most of the people still here and asking for a change/option, simply dislike the system. Whatever that reason may be, I've seen very few who would appear to qualify for your claim. While I believe the only real option to end this is for GGG to come down on one side or the other, I think they could at least try implementing it for a week, maybe a month or more, and see what their data says. Just my thoughts. |

" Sure. But getting less loot is not the only effect FFA loot can have. You wanna know another thing about "the masses"? They are very eager to protect something that benefits them in some particluar way, disregarding the consequenses. |
|
" Ha. That made me smile a bit. Anyway, I hear actually quite a few good reasons why FFA must stay, but I don't think I've read any that go against the idea of having options (except maybe one which I have refuted as you can see below). So far I have seen only ONE argument to go against looting options. Sidenote: I don't think I've really been clear on this, but other ideas are of course welcome, but with the issues that the system currently has, looting options appear to somewhat touch on all of them. The argument I was referring to, is this: "If looting options were available, then everybody will flock to the option that ISNT FFA." However, I would counter with this: What if we made it so that FFA had bonuses over other options provided by GGG? Vooodu mentioned this before and I think that would be an okay thing to do. If for example FFA kept the quantity bonus in groups (6 person = 350% quantity), while say instanced looting provides 0% quantity, then it would still keep the competitiveness that many seek in a loot system such as PoE, while ALSO providing the social/team aspect that others seek. " what. is this sarcasm? IGN: Mibuwolf

" No it’s a legitimate suggestion. Change the current timer allocation system and add FFA to the pool of available map mods. IGN: Wrathmar * Paulie * Client

" What would that solve? I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around that. IGN: Mibuwolf
