Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.
" Why would ffa lovers leave the game when the ffa play style would still be available to them as it is in its current present form, maybe even further enhanced with a timer-free option too? Ofc they wouldnt leave. Therefore please stop spreading FUD and false arguments. Last edited by mobutu#5362 on Mar 10, 2013, 3:44:34 PM

" This is useless conjecture besides also not making much sense at all. No one wants to remove FFA, silly person. " If you can't handle player feedback then don't play a beta? Standard Forever

The fact of the matter is people won't quit the game if instanced loot is added, but people will leave if it's not. No one has ever quit a game because they got loot.

" I wouldn't be so sure about that. I wouldn't like it if they made all loot instanced per player, if that happens, other things will follow and you're on your way to just becoming another D3. What you're saying is as far away as a "fact" as it can be. The game is meant to be competitive and it's not meant to cater to everyone. To be honest, I don't really care if the people that want to get the loot fed to them with a spoon leave and went off to play something which is more to their liking. I also don't believe GGG wants Path of Exile to be a game that caters to every type of player either. Domination: Lvl 58 Power Siphon Witch Last edited by SeikenZ#3842 on Mar 10, 2013, 4:46:24 PM

" Instanced loot was one of the few things Diablo III did right, adding it to PoE would do nothing but improve it for me. As it stands now "competitive" = standing around doing nothing waiting for loot to drop so you can grab it fast while others are actually playing the game (killing mobs).

Looting should be visible to others only after the timer, i wonder if that would not be the best.
It will give you your full 3 sec or whatever the time is now, and not some 1.4 because everyone rush directly to good drops and wait for timers to expire. If others see it only after it expires, then the duration of the timer will be the actual advantage the one who wins the drop has over others, and others wont flood the area, block, or do whatever else they can to prevent you from getting it, when they see your timer. I am the light of the morning and the shadow on the wall, I am nothing and I am all.

" .. I know alot of people who run business like that and are extremely successful. So, when people try and make this a point i just laugh. You seem to think that catering to the biggest complainers in the room is good for business. Well, you do have a point. But i doubt GGG made a game just for the sake of selling out. Look at Blizzard and D3, they catered to the casuals and complainers. Hell, the guy in charge of it was D2 casual/complainer at heart. Which is why D3 is how it is and got even worse as it went on. The way i look at it, as long as certain amount of loyal customers keep comming back, then totally selling out and catering to other people is not needed. |

" That would certainly improve the current system, it would also stop everyone rushing to grab "your" item and body blocking you.
" That's your opinion. Diablo 3 did nothing right as no one but blizzard fanboys plays the game anymore. Mark me down as loot is fine as is. Best results as Ranger
rank 29 (1 Hr Lethal TI Solo (S02E148)) rank 40 (2 Hr Fixed Seed Solo (S02E249)) rank 49 (1 Hour BLAMT Solo (S02E258)) |

" It's only right because you happen to like it. I know for a fact that GGG wants this game to be competitive, as in "competing for loot". With the loot-timers, nobody can pick up every piece of loot at the moment it drops, so that's a moot point. Just standing around or not, it doesn't matter since everyone has time to pick up their stuff. Domination:
