Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.

I remember bringing up this loot issue back when closed beta first opened. The devs are pretty hard set against instanced loot, with only 1 reason backing why: to promote a cutthroat atmosphere.
Sorry, but it doesn't. When the game makes things difficult for you then that is cutthroat. When the game has flaws that allows other players to troll/denegrate/etc your play experience then it is bad design. It destroys the social aspect of the game, imo. If loot was instanced then people would more readily group with strangers, have a good time, and possibly even swap/give away loot that drops and is better served for that teammate who has been destroying the evils of wraeclast with you. Instead we have a large number of players who play solo or with friends only. And others try to play with public people and soon experience the horrid feeling of someone else taking their chaos orb, rares, quality skill gem, unique item, etc. I said it years ago and I'll say it again. This drop system goes backwards in technology and provides zero positives. I understand sticking with the cutthroat feeling, but this doesn't make the game feel cutthroat. And the dev response just gives me that sinking feeling in my gut and reminds me of a certain other dev claiming "it just isn't fun your way, do it my way." |

" ^^^^^ I thought about it a little and I actually think I would prefer a system that is instanced (or non competitive) with the ability to go hostile. I think that would be far more interesting that what we have now. No pvp isn't balanced but I don't think it ever really should be. Ya stuff can be taken out like temporal chains or bear traps if they are over used but I kind of like it how it is. Some builds are just better than others at pvp, but they all seem to have a weakness. I think that system would feel more cutthroat to me personally. " I didn't play Diablo 3, but I remember hearing something like that, however I can relate to it when I heard Bioware's argument of "artistic integrity". IGN: Mibuwolf

" Because a mob of angry nerds with a truck load of different opinons about how things should be is always better then a game devs actual vision of a product. I remember when people didn't enjoy something they would simply refuse to do it. Nowadays, Helll NAaaW. Kids will sit at an exit and complain the exit door is voilating their rights as a human being. Even tho the actual entrance is right next to it. BTW, i liked ME3 as a whole.... Sue me. Last edited by Vooodu#7002 on Mar 1, 2013, 1:10:07 PM

" Ha. 0/10. I see through you buddy. If you would like to argue with me you would've supplied evidence to support your claims, but you never do. Why don't you exit the building? You obviously don't like it here. We can discuss things appropriately, or not at all. Pick. IGN: Mibuwolf Last edited by mibuwolf#7946 on Mar 1, 2013, 1:16:26 PM

" You state your opinion regarding FFA looting and difficulty, and then go on to treat this opinion as if it were a fact in the interest of trying to change my primary argument. This is a classic example of the Straw Man fallacy and thus your argument is invalid. (This also pulls the rug out from under the rest of your post, which is why it is omitted above.) Non-FFA loot should be an option. Disagree? Explain why it should not be allowed. (Pro-tip: if your explanation can be tracked back to personal greed, you will be eaten alive.) edit: clarification Last edited by Ladderjack#2496 on Mar 1, 2013, 1:18:45 PM

Wrong.
FFA has its own ups and downs, it balances loot as a whole. Look ive stated earlier in this post, make instanced loot and me and many others will be leaving. This is not an instanced loot game. Carebear elsewhere, thank you. For example, I was in a game with people i had just met, just running maps. Exalt orb dropped I didnt even see it, low and behold the kid who looted it actually gave it to me. 5 minutes previous a lioneyes glare dropped with MY name on it. And he still gave me the exalt. Moral of the story, if you want to play in a party than loot is FFA unless you work it out with the people in the group. This balances party/solo, if you want instanced loot just play alone, loots all yours. Oh wait, you cant farma lone because you cant clear laone so you need a full party so you can 90% leech other dps and then have your own private "drops". Yeah right, go play WoWitseasy or diablow Invasion - No Sacrifice No Glory HTTP://WWW.TWITCH.TV/THISISDEUX Last edited by Deux#3310 on Mar 1, 2013, 1:36:17 PM

" Then this might not be the game for you anyways, if it's only the lack of loot options that keeps you playing. " Err. This is primarily a single player game, and in single player you have essentially instanced loot. So you are wrong, if anything this IS an instanced loot game. |

" Please provide supporting arguments. I tallied up your post and you unfortunately didn't come up with one. Hate speeches don't exactly count. Your opinion is just that; an opinion. While you're at it, explain how the current loot system solves the problems I have listed here:http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/392/page/685#p1827336 IGN: Mibuwolf Last edited by mibuwolf#7946 on Mar 1, 2013, 1:45:14 PM
