Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.
I found looting in POE frustrating as a party because the person with better latency and comp performance wins. Sometimes, players know how to block your way in picking up loot. e.g. Marauders because of the character bigger 3D model or hitbox.
I found difficulty to pick up all multiple rares allocated for me, like 3-4 rares in 1 dropping esp if I carry higher MF. I only had time to grab 2 at most while the rest got looted since they all run on the same timer. And if 2 rare loots drops simultaneously on 2 different locations, say a corpse and a chest. I only have time to choose either one. Implement loot options is better, which players can set as individual or FFA before the game. With FFA, players know its a grabfest and they chose it. If players wanted no disturbance, they ought to have this flexibility too. For this reason, I now only party alone or with friends. And if I just wanted quick exp grinds, then i'll just join pugs. GGG states that it is important for the game to be a cut throat feel, but it should also adopt a flexible stance(devs have been wrong in their decision) to balance player's grief and fairness. i got this idea.....
well, the idea is pretty simple, just like a game option, which allows players the option to adjust the drop timer to their needs. so each player will have a timer of their own, when item dropped belongs to that player, it will have a timer which set by that player instead of the distance between the item and the player. the custom timer can be set to very short even disable, but also very long as well, so the player dont have to worry about their stuff being pinched because they cant get to it in time. for the purpose of the beta testing, lets give it from 0 seconds to 60 second as the limit. the only reason of it being adjustable on the user end its because some user may not like it too long and its effect on the gameplay, so they can set their timer to very short or even turning it off. the ninja is really frustrating experience and i have many stuff stole from me, sure many other player experienced the same if not worse. ign: dthem

FFA loot is only acceptable if the loot timers were increased.
You call this "challenge" but its far from a challenge. Not everyone has fast connections to servers or ultra fast computers.I think you forgot considering this before praising ffa loot. |

What I see here is GGG's vision (which by the way is why we came to this game) and a certain group who is hell bent on changing things to suit their play style. This game is not your game. It is not my game. It is GGG's game. Their word is the word of god in path of exile. Your voice is not a vote, this isnt a democracy.
Either PoE is something you like, or it isn't. If you like PoE (like the people who came to this game from the original vision) then thats great. If it isn't to YOUR liking then go play another game like d3 where AH/instance looting/various hand holding does take place. I applaud GGG for their conviction to sticking to their guns because they realise that they occupy a niche. That is their competitive advantage. If they changed the design to incorporate d3 ideas, then they would fade and die because there is no differentiation so the bigger name wins out. Keep complaining, but GGG isnt the kind of company that just changes things because of whining. | |

" It was changved before for balance reasons. Many people are asking for it to change again because of playsytle reasons. Very different. |

" The reasons given to change the system are for balance. The reasons presented to keep it unchanged are play style. For example feedback like: ‘I can’t get my loot because of dsync’ = Balance And feedback like: ‘Don’t listen to the whiners because the current system is hardcore’ = Play Style IGN: Wrathmar * Paulie * Client Last edited by wrathmar#4456 on Feb 18, 2013, 3:58:18 PM

Lag and distance are balance.
Saying you want instanced loot because you like to loot afterwards are playsytle. |

" Personally I don’t want a fully instanced loot system. I want them to remove the timer allocation for magic items and increase it for gear > magic. I still don’t understand why they won’t adjust the system in default/hardcore while keeping it for the race/cut throat leagues....Is it because multiplayer is incredibly easy? Why can't there be an option when creating a public or a private group.
I play on a crappy laptop so I often get low frames and stuff.nI hate grouping cause I rarely get to pick up my loots, there is always someone else over it clicking like crazy. So what I do is play solo. While it is a soloution it's not a fun one, and it's really easy to give people like me to enjoy the game with other people. Everybody doesn't have a set group of friend playing along like your beloved streamers that made that game so popular. Show some love to us as well. To the antagonistic players, fast looters or whatever, give them the choise to play free for all, and give us, the poor, lazy, slowpokes the choise to play with instanced loot. Thanks! |
