Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.

Lost my first map drop because the timer started at

>>>10%<<<

with a 32 ping and GTX 670.
Thies system is Hardcore.

Just give my en Option to fight for my loot, and when i win loot the Char that steal my loot. Belive me, Ninjaing wold stop immidietly.

Want say it, the current system are good for Lootgrabber, has no consequences for it.

White 6L Chest whitout timers are a joke. First Meele that see has it. Not funny loot game.

Problem whit a Hack`n Slay, its all based on loot. Make it right!
Try your own build, rerolling again and again, more fun than Maps.

The whole "cut-throat" feel you are going for makes for a challenging game indeed, although sometimes a bit frustrating. I enjoy a challenging game as much as anyone, but how can you encourage players to play in groups and work together while at the same time implementing a looting system that allows players to steal each others rewards?

I have been in farming groups where everyone is being very friendly and not stealing anything that doesn't belong to them....until something in-particularly valuable drops(like a map or unique item)and they snag it and leave group before anyone can say "fuck you!".

Its just not fun really. You're right you do choose who you party with, and after losing enough loot to party members, even the most altruistic player wont trust anyone in a random group. So why would you even want to play with others?

And if you're only inclined to play solo your class/build options become much more limited...by this point I'm asking myself "Why do I still want to play this?".

I don't really feel like playing much anymore after being logged in for a few minutes. Looting system and losing drops (or losing XP running into groups of mobs to get them) is really the main thing that discourages me from playing more. I do love the massive passive skill tree and the tune-ability of skills and builds. I'm sure not everyone feels like this but it's where I'm stuck at.

EDIT
-After reading through more of this HUGE thread I believe that giving the creator of the party the option to set the looting as FFA or allocated when they create the party could be a possible solution.
-Many players already create farming parties with names like "(various zone) RUN lvl70+ NINJA=KICK" and I suppose this gives the party leader and other members an ability to self-manage griefers, but it doesn't really give the party leader total control over looting preferences.
-If loot options were able to be chosen when making a party the players that want FFA can create/join parties with FFA loot and players that want allocated loot can create/join parties with allocated loot.

How did someone steal your loot?

Did they pick pocket your inventory? Did they hack your stash?

...OooOh! You mean the random loot that drops in "PUBLIC" games. You confuse the timers for self entitled drops. And you expect there to be 'consequences' for picking up FREE FOR ALL LOOT?

....MuahahhAaaaaaaaaaaaAa..

There already is consequences in this game. As in, if you play PUBLC games don't expect random people to give a rats asss about what you think about loot drops.

BTW, Melee does not have 1st dibs on drops. Learn how to play maybe?

No, I am guessing the previous poster said it was dumb because it didn't address the issues I presented at all. Telling people to "find a team" does nothing to answer why public games SHOULD have an arbitrary difficulty while private games do not. FFA people are inconsistent in attempting to point out that public games need the added difficulty because having more people makes the game easier. Private games need more difficulty even more so, yet we hear nothing about them.

Bingo.
