Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.

After thinking about the issue and having a lot of discussions about it. I'll post what I currently hold as the optimal solution here, since we're discouraged from creating new threads.

Upon creating a new party, the party leader can set the duration of the timer ranging from 0 (pure FFA) to infinity (instanced). Also the names should stay attached to the items forever unless the timer was set to 0.

While the timer is running only the person whose name is on the item can see it. That should reduce the item clutter and discourage ninjaing.

However you can grant people on your friends list the permission to see and pick up your items, even while the timer is running. That should speed up the game for a party of friends and guilds.

Does anyone see problems with that?
(I hate to say this, but I have to remind our pro-FFA friends that a discussion requires arguments.)
I beat cruel, ruthless and merciless and all I got were some maps.
XBone: the beginning of the end.
I think loot should stay "eventually FFA".
However...
1) The timers could be increased slightly.
2) The pickup distance should be increased, or whatever it is that causes loot to simply not pick up properly in spite of clicking on it repeatedly, *must* be fixed.

This thread on Reddit captures the issues and the "frustration and friction" caused by the current loot system.

Devs, what is your current thinking on all of this?

I am still waiting when devs will step in and tell us their current stance.. It's pretty ridiculous how they wrote that people who like allocated loot should be happy because they add 1 second allocation time..it's like spiting you in face and telling you "you should be happy about that...I brushed my teeth so shut up"

They told us they want our feedback..and feedback here, at reddit, in game and basically in every another forum is mostly negative about current system..so what is their next step and when? I don't know but I know yesterday was too late already for many people.

That's because of people who actually enjoy the system won't open topics saying "The loot system is perfect, don't change it".
Also, if you look closely, there are people who come to these topics and actually say that they like the system, but get a) ignored by the loud minority or b) downvoted so nobody reads their comments.

I really hope they don't change the system, because I love the competition.

A loot distribution system setup does not make you more hardcore.

It does.

The more and faster you click, the more hardcore you are. You would understand, if you would play today games.

Click speed = skill?

No.

Then you have bad luck? I have already 12 uniques with a 56 level character. 12 fucking uniques (besides the ones I sold already). Now imagine how many rares I've found.

And btw, there are players that block. Namely, ME.

ps1.Today I leveled up a templar. He is currently 16 level. I got about 10 rares already. Currently I'm wearing rare weapon / shield / chest / helmet / 1 ring / belt. That's without counting all the rares I sold to the vendor cause they didn't fit my playstyle. Are you playing another game?

...*face palm*.

Ok man, i get it.. Hell i got it a loooong time ago. You have some serious issues and i get this.

But ..

1.) I have yet to see anyone block anyone constantly. Or anyone block people and actually have anything positive come out of it.... So, unless of influx of asshole players like you begin to swarm the servers and and actally pull off what you can do..

Well, its nothing to worry about.. At all.

2.) I have only found 3 uniques. So, you must be lucky, Cause the majority of the posts I see mainly claim what i claim and see daily. Which is unqiues are hard to come by.

3.) The majority of drops are garbage..Rares included. I leave most of them on the ground. I find a TON of rares but id them and drop them on the spot. Some, i don't even bother with. I bet people like you think you are "Blocking and Ninja'n that mad loot"

So, NO. Im not playing another game. But, if i end up in a game with you believe me. I'd go find another game to play in.

Or maybe just laugh at you.. Watch you ninja up all the garbage. Because you just sooo sneaky..

..Anyways.

If FFA loot is really that big of problem for everyone. I hope you all get what you feel is right.

Anyway this game ends up i know il enjoy either way.

This is BS and people should stop use this argument..it was BS many many years ago...and it's still not true.

There were many different "studies" how community reacts on social platforms like forum or game chat..and basically what they proved is that trends on forums and other platforms represents ingame trends and mood of playerbase pretty accurately..actually forum seems to be more positive, because majority of not happy players wont voice their opinion and will just quit..

Exactly.
Because:

Click speed + precision + ingame experience = skill

That applies for most video games.
Easy concept, isn't it?

"Studies"? Really? Can you provide links or are you making this up?

Yea..I am making this up..I have my own company and I am just ignoring social studies and how people are reacting on certain things.. I want to lose customers because I can say whatever I want..for example..it's seems they are not happy..because most people are happy..they are just silent...lol..

google social studies, internet behavior, understanding customers etc...there is TONS and TONS of statistics and studios about people, their reactions, internet and social communication, what people are willing to tell and what not.. but main point is "majority of dissatisfied customers wont tell anything..so keep eyes on every negative reactions..if this opinion will repeat across different customers and social groups..problem is real"
