Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.
Oh hai again every1!
Back with a new idea! I hope you like it!
Spoiler
I actually don't care if you like it.
What about this: 1) All loot is always visible to all players. 2) Cool loot is assigned to individual players (Shows with name, but no timer). 3) Each player has the ability veto an assignment and take the loot by simply clicking on it. (Item shows in "bright" state; like it does now while an item is reserved for you) 4) The veto power is on a cooldown. (Assigned items show in "dark" state; like it does now while an item is reserved for someone else)
Spoiler
in b4 being told to accept the current system or leave

" Yeah, if everyone just agrees to ignore all the problems with FFA and never mention an alternative everything will be just perfect! |

The only argument the FFA pros have come up with is "its hardcore, deal with it". I mean, really? Come on people, do something better. I have pointed out 30 different times in 30 different threads how FFA in a non pvp , non consequence based game system is not hardcore, its THE definition of carebearism. It's a fucking distortion field, it makes casual players thinking they are hardcore and its fucking hillarious!
Now go in front of mirror and ask yourself : Dumping my whole party, not giving a fuck if they live or die, stop attacking enemies, camping for 5 seconds on top of a scroll of wisdom and then right clicking it in a game that PROTECTS me in every possible way while doing so make me hardcore? If you come up with a yes you are a moron. Attention : I'm not saying yes to instanced loot. I dont like instance loot either way. I like the CURRENT system, but with a pvp implementation. You took a loot that had my name on it? I'll remove the head from your body you, get my loot back and then a possible drop out of your inventory. Then I rape your dead corpse and feed the sperm loaded carcass to your dog. And then a video on POE's youtube channel of me raping your mum. That's hardcore...I like that Last edited by fevgatos#0992 on Feb 1, 2013, 11:09:48 PM

You all talk of teamwork over and over again.
Yet NONE of you have even tried to start a guild..... |

" My strikethrough added. If you ask me, creating chaos between players that prevents groups from acting as a cohesive unit is actually an interesting mechanic. A particular attack might devastate a group... an item dropping might have the same effect (or worse). I still think pure FFA loot is a bad idea, but at the very least I understand why the devs though it might be interesting in the first place... and, if you could imagine a third party watching party members suddenly scramble for loot in the middle of a fight, it is the most interesting setup from an observer perspective. The main reason it was changed to loot timers was because PoE isn't much of a spectator sport (not to say no one watches streams). Don't change the reaction timer, don't change the distance timer, add an addition timer for DPSing the hell out of nearby monsters... that's my suggestion. " it's not interesting if players can't do anything about it..if there would be option like in D2..just to become hostile and kill that player..yes...in this way, this would be interesting..but in current form.. it's a boring mess. |

In the long term FFA looting WILL cost GGG money. I for one have disposable cash, I'm what the "cough" so called pro's call a casual but I'm willing to part with cash, this game is worth £25 of anyone's money looting issues aside but I will only spend my money for a product that meets my needs.
As the looting stands if the game went gold/f2p I would not spend any money on it ever simply because I'm not happy about the lack of an option to adjust looting per party/group which is a real shame because I'm actually enjoying the game immensely. It's a deal breaker for me regardless of all the game positives and there are many. Now I'm sure the trolls will wade in with " just don't play or just don't pay" but that does not help GGG in any way. They are a company and need income from customers like me. I suspect after reading 400 odd pages of this thread that GGG have noticed a clear split in what players/customers want. Will they act on it? |

" Are you serious? I clearly am not arguing for keeping the loot system the same. At least not all of it. What I am arguing for is taking a moment to get in the head of the other side of the argument. For the most part, people argue for positions they genuinely believe are right. There has to be some reason, real or imaginary, why FFA loot advocates advocate FFA loot. edit: For example, Slurms has a dedicated group, they've built enough relationships with each other that they all feel loyalty to each other; he finds it odd other people wouldn't group similarly. Correct me if I'm wrong on that analysis, Slurms. When Stephen Colbert was killed by HYDRA's Project Insight in 2014, the comedy world lost a hero. Since his life model decoy isn't up to the task, please do not mistake my performance as political discussion. I'm just doing what Steve would have wanted. " Considering several guilds have already been created. I fail to see your point. Guild (insert name)-Looking for fellow players who like non-FFA!!! Simple. |
