FFA loot is like a open food buffet.

Except that you ate it all already, leaveing no food for others party members.

I believe most people can appreciate the reasoning behind the current loot system, however it neither completely solves the issues(lag and positioning) nor remains true to FFA. Randomly assigning loot puts everyone at the mercy of that randomization. This is a big issue, because it essentially is loot assignment ALA dice. Yes, there is opportunity for that loot to be lost, but somebody gets an extreme advantage in retrieving it as well.

If you look at it from the perspective of 6 focused players with good internet connection/computers with a 'window of loot opportunity' that is enough time for an assigned player to get a drop first(which its supposed to be), then you essentially are assuring players drops, and more or less removing FFA. Also, in a normal FFA system if you are not paying attention for a moment and lose out on a drop, you still have equal opportunity to win all future loot, this however is no longer true in the middle ground system.

I played d2 forever, and love FFA loot systems and the inevitable highs and lows that come with it. My biggest issue with the FFA loot system in general is there is no room for relaxing when you play, and I can also see that as a positive as much as I see it as a negative. I enjoy FFA loot systems, but also would love the ability to relax and play with people I don't know.

IMO you should fully commit to one loot system or the other or perhaps offer both. Having both FFA loot, and fully assigned loot as group options would be a way to please everyone, but unfortunately I could see it leading to too little FFA being played.

We have been internally discussing community feedback on topics such as looting options and damage displays.
Best news I've ever heard on the topic.

Wow this is awesome. They are actually saying something about it in a place other than a PM!

It's really weird to expect people to play together during battles, and suddenly try to screw everyone in order to get this shiny item that just dropped from a monster... and then become best friends few seconds after.
lol... Im sorry but you make that sound like alot of fun.
Yeah, it's fun when it doesn't matter. Like, I don't know if you played Castle Crashers (4 people co-op), but in that game, at the end of some levels, you have to free a princess... but before that, after the boss is defeated, you end up fighting agaisnt your friends to know who's gonna free and kiss the princess.
This is fun, because it's not really serious and isn't relevent to the rest of the game.

In a H&S, when you do that around loot, which is an important part in the game, you just get frustration and not real fun. Sure, it's "fun" for the guy who managed to get the item...

Also, PoE doesn't allows you to really fight for the loot. I'm sure and I agree that would be really fun to have some sort of duel or battle royale between players to see who will get the reward... unfortunatly that's not the case. It's just a matter of who click faster, who can prevent the other from reaching it (ice wall...) and not actual fun gameplay.

keep trying dude, you're very good at it, proving my points ;)

I already wrote an answer regarding your arguments, but you just kept repeating them instead of giving a real response :)
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

For me looting in group games in not VITAL to the games success.

It will appease a larger amount of people changing it slightly.
And if they do not. Oh well. Most of us just wont play in groups unless we have to (big boss runs).

The crazy thing is if it were the other way around, the FFA advocates wouldnt quit playing group games at all. In a sense they arent losing out on anything. Im not trying to speak for everyone but a majority of the Anti-FFA (so to say) would just NOT play groups. The other way around isnt so true

your point? this is a online only game (i cant' play offline like TL2 for example)
as an online only game it is also multiplayer
as a multiplayer i should be ENCOURAGED to play with strangers (and eventually make ingame friends) and not DISCOURAGED

yes ofc we can play solo (and most already do) but if you play only solo you
a) do not want to look cool (=less shop purchased good)
b) feel bored faster and play less and less (= less need to "support" the game)
c) i play other single player games that look and feel 2013 games (= less need to "support" the game)

i only see con's in this situation not pro's

When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself

What parts you do not understand?
See below, quotes, demolishing your (and other ffaers) argument of "its not your untill you pick it up".

-Loot belongs to the whole party
-party = 2-6 players/members

now, there are 2 different opinions:
-the nice persons, sportmans, gentlemans, a healthy social human being etc believe that, because the whole party (2-6 members) fought and defeated the horrible monsters, the whole loot should be shared by all members;
-the ninjas and thieves, who are hiding and justify their thievery-actions under the lame catchphrase "its not your loot 'till you pick it up", believe the whole loot should be theirs if they pick it up first, denying the rest of the party members of their rightfully share of the loot.

This a purpose of a team: members work together for the final win and then reap the benefits of winning together as a team.
Those party member that think otherwise and take all the benefits that resulted from the team winning just for themself are just thieves, cowards and selfish pricks.

dude, if you cannot understand a basic, simple concept of a team winning together and reaping the resulted benefits together (this is a FACT! btw) then you're just a lost individual.
I cant explain it to you lower that that ... its like you still don't understand 1+1=2
