I've been playing this for a couple of days now with some friends and I have to say I like the loot system. I hate FFA loot systems because I like to play mages and I feel like this system is a really good compromise with the people who like FFA and the people who hate it.

Better yet, take the timer completely off! I love the rush of adrenaline when some FFA loot drops, it's one of the main reasons I play and donated for this game and I hope GGG never succumbs under this constant overwhelming casuals whining that started after OB.
Just remember, once you chase away all the sheep, the wolves starve. Have fun starving if you get your way.
We don't need you here. If you want to be here, stay for all I care, but then you have absolutely no right to start complaining and mainstreaming this piece of art of a game. You want to play with us? You play with "our" rules. And by "our" I mean GGG's and the people that share the same hardcore vision.
Nice to know it is "your" game.

Yeah I was thinking exactly the same thing. Well that and, while I'm an old fart, there's still a juvenile in me that wanted to jump up and say "Make me!"

That FFA really hurts this game. How anyone can think this is as enjoyable is beyond me. Definitely makes me look for another game and let that fail ninja mentality dictate the left-over players. Will be a hart-warming community.
I enjoy it tremendously. It would be even better without the timer, but I'll manage with that. Bye!
It would be fine if other players couldnt block you from getting your own loot. In tight packed areas, every sits on your loot (even in the middle of fights) therefore blocking you out of range from your own loot.
That's kind of small issue compared to what changing the whole system would bring.
If you are so worried about this, an Exile like you surely can take a skill that you can use to travel distances fast so this issue becomes irrelevant.

I do not see how adding an additional 2-5 seconds to the base timer slows down the group. They say that they tested it but I never saw this in the test environment.

Conversely, in a good group that has some basic "gentleman's rules", the current FFA-timer implementation VASTLY speeds up the pace of game play. We've tinkered around with a lot of different loot timers, and we've found that when we extend them, even by a little bit, the pace of the game drags considerably. You want to just be moving along all the time, going from pack to pack, blowing stuff up. The last thing you want to be doing is standing around every time some stuff dies, waiting for all your little bars to decay.
“waiting for all your little bars to decay.” You don’t have to wait for your bars to expire before you can loot. Did he intend to type "waiting for all your team mate’s little bars to decay.”????

Brian already said they are keeping as it is for now, they are thinking about it. So quit your bytchin and play, or don't.

That is not a small issue. That is part of the very core of the issue.
People not getting to their loot one way or another.
I dont think the group purposely blocked me out of my loot. But when they all huddled around it (even in a 'team-fight') it pushed me far enough away that I couldnt get in range to pick it up. And what I mean by range is Im clicking on the item...but it wont move my guy to it because there are 3-4 friendlies in the way.
Im not showing support for a FFA no timer system. But adding 2 seconds...and/or making it able to move through friendlies would help.
I only really group with clan member now because we solely pick up if it has our name on it. If they dont pick it up once we are moving to another area..its fair game.

blah blah blah blah sorry friend but you get -1 for originality
since you love cut throating in PoE why you do not whine to GGG to let OPEN PvP aka d2?
you are a hardcore player of the shallow waters.....
your blatant claims and the completely lack of common sense makes you look like...well....
there is nothing hardcore about FFA system...
When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself

This is your main problem. You don't understand that it's not "your loot". There is no "your loot". It's FFA. The timer is there so that ranged classed even have the slightest chance of getting something.
End of talk for my part. Because this will only lead to an argument.
