Given that you apparently haven't bothered to read what is being asked for before making your snarky remark I will spoonfeed it to you.

FFA

or the likes.

Sorry, I have better things to do than read through 350 pages of whining. I know too well that people who play these games won't stop until it's watered down carebear friendly garbage. I can only keep my faith in GGG and their design goals.

Assume much? I want to see the base timer increased to 5 seconds. I also want to see the monster difficulty buffed in Co-op. I would like to see the HP increased and add an additional 2% attack/cast/movement speed per each additional player.

I am asking for the game to be made harder and for the loot to be less frustrating. How am I ‘whiney’ and looking for a ‘care bear’ game?

you are the one who is whining against something, what wouldnt even bother him...

you could still play your Loot before fighting game to grab newbies or peepz with latency issues...but those who dont want that could play in their own groups without bothering you..

The dead are my servants.
And fear...will be my closest friend.

How about we make it so that when the timer expires the item emits a shockwave that knocks nearby players away?

Okay now that I've had some sleep I'll try to make a more serious suggestion or two.

1) Increase the minimum Loot Timer duration to 1.3 or 1.5 2 seconds to ensure that the item is available to a specific player for as long as 1 second even if the player experiences upwards of 300 to 500ms of lag.

Note: A player with 300ms lag will 1) See the loot spawn 300ms late and 2) takes 150ms (Not a round trip) longer for any action the player takes (Like clicking on the item to move towards and loot it) to be received by the server.

Combine this suggestion with either of the latter 2.

2a) Make the loot undetectable (Invisible & inaudible) by players that aren't mentioned by the Loot Timer until the Loot Timer has expired. Once the Loot Timer has expired everyone will experience Loot Drop Animation and hear it play the sound of loot being dropped when it becomes free game.

This will make it harder for snipers to be able to formulate a way to get to the item before the intended recipient as the intended recipient will have at least 1 second where only they know about the loot and can begin moving towards it while everyone else is totally unaware.

2b) While loot has a timer, display the loots name and tooltip in gray font and all stats as 0 to unintended recipients.

This will have a similar effect to the above but keep the loot visible to ensure players see mountains of loot immediately spawn out of enemies.

Edit: Apply a similar extension of 300 to 500 milliseconds to the minimum time for tiers of items above White as well.

Just add 5 more seconds! I grouped with a few groups today and because my PC aint the fastest I got 90% of my loot ninja'd right in front of me.

Luckily there's sometimes a good goup where people aren't looting like whores but most of the time it's so annoying.

So please, just add a few seconds to give players the chance to at least run upto it when they're half a screen away?

Please?

We have proven with facts that instanced loot is neither carebear nor provide more loot or easy loot.
Since you prolly new in the thread let me sum it up for you
Your effort in the grp us to kill mobs, so for that you should have a reward.. OK till now? Asking from player to deliver more especially in out of ingame skills (latency, reaction time, graphics lag) is a cheap (at least) way to create a hardcorish feel.
Instanced looting is NOT free looting, you kill the mobs end of story
When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself
Just add an option for instanced loot. There is no reason not to except "I want to dictate how others play their game".

It doesn't change the core of the game; It's primarily a single player game, so how could it?

It doesn't take anything away from anyone; The option to play FFA is still there.

It doesn't give players an advantage; It slows down your item progression.

So I am having a really hard time understanding why any reasonable person would oppose this.

Current system isn't remotely a compromise. Have you read this thread before?

There are easy compromises.

Wow, this thread blew up while I was at work...

* We want timers extended to 10-15 seconds.

* Loot options much like in World of Warcraft that will allow many different forms of looting.

* Purely instanced loot.

It really is a very simple fix that wouldn't discourage majority of players I have encountered from playing in random public groups. The current loot system is only killing the social aspect of the game.

It is a simple fix, but apparently GGG only wants to cater to the 1% who are called HARDCORE, well I just wish them luck when other people switch to other games.
Why not give everyone what they want? Make it an option for whoever forms the party (the first one to invite another player to his own party) to select whether he wants loot to be free for all or instanced, and the players joining the party can see which type it is. If instanced looting is selected then the item drops per player need to be scaled down so theres no difference in total amount of loot dropped.
It's really off putting to me and a lot of my friends. We don't like playing in parties where people will steal your items. Not all of us are quick, we are very casual. We also like to kill the monsters before we try to pick up items. The way it is now is way to fast.

Please consider not everyone enjoys this system, that some of us would like the option when we create or look for a party to join to not have to compete for items.

It has cause me to abandon a lot of parties, and is really frustrating. I will just quit the game and not even play for an entire day if someone takes a unique or a gem cutters cause i was to busy fighting to just run over and grab it.

I enjoy the social aspect, and try to make very good friends to play with. But this would really allow me to play with who ever and enjoy the game a lot more.

Edit

I will note, that it happened some more today... Like whatever if it's crappy items but if it's something really nice I just log off and quit. I don't like that. I play games to enjoy, and I really enjoy this game. But I can't compete with ninja's, I live in Alaska so I usually have latency for one, and another I'm just a slower gamer...

I really want to support this game, but not if it's putting me in a bad mood. And it's really starting to bother me bad!
