Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.
I agree that the loot system in its current implementation discourages group play.

" Oooh Please....Spare everyone the drama. I walked in on a boss kill, seconds after i joined the party and walked through a TP. He had barely any life left. He litterally died a few seconds latter and i had 1 yellow and one unqiue with my name on it. Click CLick. Mine. How fair is that to everyone esle who actually fought the monster, killed it and got nothing. When alls i did was walk in and get the best drop, just because my name was on it. If anything, that was not fair for me at all.. Loot timers should be removed. Everyone should have had a chance at that drop not just me. Last edited by Vooodu#7002 on Jan 26, 2013, 11:55:09 PM

" Why didn't you pickup your loot? In all honesty, he earned it all if all you guys were gonna do is gawk at it. Connection has very little to do with it.. You don't have a 3 second delay... |

" This is the problem right here. You are projecting your opinions onto everyone else. Some people find this system to be unfun regardless of how much loot they may or may not lose. Some people tolerate it and occasionally enjoy it. And then they have a bad day and its the worst thing ever. Point is that its unnecessary. Standard Forever

" So you exploited the public party system to jump into a group right before the boss kill? The behavior that you are proud of is the best illustration on why the loot system needs to be adjusted IGN: Wrathmar * Paulie * Client

" Why didn't you pickup your loot? In all honesty, he earned it all if all you guys were gonna do is gawk at it. [/quote] Your still making assumptions. Its purely plausible and happens all the time that he was standing as close as he could when Vaal died and the huge loot explosion caused some lag in which the players slightly closer jumped all over the loot in a click fest grabbing everything just miliseconds before he could get to the nearest rare and then run to the next nearest rare. Also the idea that he "earned" the loot is ridiculous. Your claiming that the player didn't earn anything by being in the group and helping to kill Vaal? Really? Standard Forever

" I'm sure FFA loot works differently in the Alpha realm. You need to realize that most players are new to the game. ***For example an experienced player know that right before a boss dies you should run away from it not towards. Since a boss will drop multiple items for you it is best to be further away so you have a longer time to click all of you loot.**** IGN: Wrathmar * Paulie * Client Last edited by wrathmar#4456 on Jan 27, 2013, 12:07:24 AM

I will add my two cents into this. Not that it really matters, it seems, but at least I can say I tried.
I don't see a reason why it couldn't just be an option that you set when making the party... Much like other MMO's, there is a choice. If you and your friends enjoy FFA, then make it FFA. But for the other people that don't like the tense confrontation with others, I can see why it would be beneficial to add an option of loot drops. I personally would NEVER play in a public party with FFA. Never have, never will. |

" Right he didn't earn it. If people are racing there's always a loser, you are basically suggesting that everyone gets the same "good Try" medal. You think the last place racer didn't try? But I suppose he should get top prize and a trophy too? |

" The system favors more experienced players. An experienced player can port in right before the boss kill and use the system to gain an unfair advantage over newer players. Right now Worldbreaker you are trying to tell someone how they should feel; when you can't acknowledge their frustration. IGN: Wrathmar * Paulie * Client
