Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.
" Even with a group of friends, I could see it being problematic. I also don't see how it provides an advantage in this instance. Say one of my friends wants something that was dropped to me--simple, I trade it with him. How exactly does FFA improve the experience? |

" An exclusive groups can create and enforce their own loot rules. Anyone who breaks the rules is kicked. I think I saw a post by Voodoo that showed this concept. IGN: Wrathmar * Paulie * Client

" I don't think that really helps the argument for FFA loot. In fact, it shows why such a system is utterly horrendous, as I would be forced to abide by the arbitrary decisions of some jackass who thinks he runs the group. It's essentially saying "we have free for all loot because some self-appointed prick wants to get off by being a prick to you." I'd rather avoid that altogether and just get my own damn loot. I like fighting enemies and customizing my character; I don't like arguing/begging with some "group leader" for a damn piece of armor. Having FFA loot just adds an incredibly annoying dimension to a perfectly fun game. Last edited by cfisher2833#1695 on Jan 26, 2013, 9:15:02 PM

I wasn't trying to support the FFA argument. I was just pointing out that the only logical PRO that has been present is it works well with friends.

I made this post about a year ago:
" And it's every bit as true now as it was then. Apparently the reasoning is "Wraeclast is supposed to be cut-throat.", to which I say "You're going to hold your game back from reaching its full potential because the mechanics that would make the game much more fun would slightly conflict with the game's lore?". It's completely absurd, but I guess it's their game. And their wallets. |

The looting system is really stopping me with grouping with anyone.. I cant even concentrate of fighting mobs while keeping an eye out
its pretty disappointing since its the only real thing I dislike about eh game and I was hoping that I would be able to play it not just as a solo game.. As it stands there is little incentive to play group unless you actually know people who play since its much more rewarding to me at least to play solo and get more loot.. |

Everyone has the same limitations here. Quit putting rules on the current system and you will find people won't break them. I have a ranger on 160 ping. I have no issues with getting my loot AND others. Every party I make with FFA LOOT in the title, I've lost items that were assigned to me, and have got items meant for others. It is a more fun experience, quit being lazy,. You are all saying the same thing "I can't do x, while watching y, and pressing z". Welcome to computer gaming.
Funny people can talk text and watch tv at the same time, but can't pickup gear in 5 seconds because they are doing 1 task atm. |

Can't stand this looting system. I did a pick up group with 5 other people to kill Vaal. ONE person ended up getting ALL the rare items even though they were not assigned to him. A combination of bad loot list mechanics(the list being more spread out than the screen space) and CONNECTION SPEED.
This loot system rewards greedy players who have the best ping. |
