Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.

Everyone has the same limitations here. Quit putting rules on the current system and you will find people won't break them. I have a ranger on 160 ping. I have no issues with getting my loot AND others. Every party I make with FFA LOOT in the title, I've lost items that were assigned to me, and have got items meant for others. It is a more fun experience, quit being lazy,. You are all saying the same thing "I can't do x, while watching y, and pressing z". Welcome to computer gaming.

Funny people can talk text and watch tv at the same time, but can't pickup gear in 5 seconds because they are doing 1 task atm.
Can't stand this looting system. I did a pick up group with 5 other people to kill Vaal. ONE person ended up getting ALL the rare items even though they were not assigned to him. A combination of bad loot list mechanics(the list being more spread out than the screen space) and CONNECTION SPEED.

This loot system rewards greedy players who have the best ping.

I agree that the loot system in its current implementation discourages group play.

Oooh Please....Spare everyone the drama.

I walked in on a boss kill, seconds after i joined the party and walked through a TP.

He had barely any life left. He litterally died a few seconds latter and i had 1 yellow and one unqiue with my name on it. Click CLick.

Mine.

How fair is that to everyone esle who actually fought the monster, killed it and got nothing. When alls i did was walk in and get the best drop, just because my name was on it.

If anything, that was not fair for me at all.. Loot timers should be removed. Everyone should have had a chance at that drop not just me.

Why didn't you pickup your loot? In all honesty, he earned it all if all you guys were gonna do is gawk at it.

Connection has very little to do with it.. You don't have a 3 second delay...

This is the problem right here. You are projecting your opinions onto everyone else. Some people find this system to be unfun regardless of how much loot they may or may not lose.

Some people tolerate it and occasionally enjoy it. And then they have a bad day and its the worst thing ever. Point is that its unnecessary.

So you exploited the public party system to jump into a group right before the boss kill? The behavior that you are proud of is the best illustration on why the loot system needs to be adjusted

Your still making assumptions. Its purely plausible and happens all the time that he was standing as close as he could when Vaal died and the huge loot explosion caused some lag in which the players slightly closer jumped all over the loot in a click fest grabbing everything just miliseconds before he could get to the nearest rare and then run to the next nearest rare.

Also the idea that he "earned" the loot is ridiculous. Your claiming that the player didn't earn anything by being in the group and helping to kill Vaal? Really?

I'm sure FFA loot works differently in the Alpha realm. You need to realize that most players are new to the game.

***For example an experienced player know that right before a boss dies you should run away from it not towards. Since a boss will drop multiple items for you it is best to be further away so you have a longer time to click all of you loot.****

I will add my two cents into this. Not that it really matters, it seems, but at least I can say I tried.

I don't see a reason why it couldn't just be an option that you set when making the party... Much like other MMO's, there is a choice. If you and your friends enjoy FFA, then make it FFA.

But for the other people that don't like the tense confrontation with others, I can see why it would be beneficial to add an option of loot drops.

I personally would NEVER play in a public party with FFA. Never have, never will.
