Personally the current loot system makes me not want to group up. The FFA/ short timer loot system just adds stress for me, taking the fun out of the game. Hence I prefer playing SP.

A shame really as I urge to play COOP, but the fact that I need to stress, running fast to get loot, instead of bashing mobs, outweighs it. I play COOP to actually co- operate with other players. If I want to PvP, I queue up for it. It's a shame really - I do really like this game - but the loot system, for me personally, probably will mean the game has less longetivity.

To the people trying to make this a HC/ Casual discussion - please stop. Dedication and how many hours you put in to the game has nothing to do with this. Nothing HC about fighting for loot.

Best solution, in my opinion, would be to add a drop down menu where the party leader decides on loot system. FFA / FFA w/timer / instanced. I really don't see the need for different leagues based on loot system.

Like taken from my head, and probably many many others.
longer timer, perm bound, or go full out FFA, FFA loot always prompted a discussion within the group about loot usually there was a rotation.. now thats gone its random and the timer sucks, so either bind it or free it. makin the timer longer would be a little better too though, but still when all those people are clicking on it, waiting, i cant help to think its messing up something lol

the ninja capacity is on overload

maybe give party leader the choice of loot style!?

Its really a shame that you intend to leave this loot system as it stands with short timers and ffa settings.

Why would you encourage people to stop fighting mid combat to try to run into melee range and loot items.

Are you taking into consideration the time it takes to run to an item while being path blocked by players, mobs and in game landscaping ?

I cant call this anything other than poor game development. You are pitting players against one another in a pve environment by who can click the fastest.

I really hope in time you reconsider because this would be a pretty solid game if it wasnt pointless to play as ranged in a party with people i dont personally know and trust. I had planned to drop some money in the micro shop till I read this.

I really hope for Poe do not go to that path and learn from the mistakes of others.

Once I finish act 3 chances are I won't play the game further, specifically due to the way loot is handled.

I half expect in a few months to get a promotional mail about how the game now has a proper instanced loot system, offering a promotion on microtransactions and probably announcing along with this some new content.

Oh yes it would "hurt" some people. It's about the same argument you get for FFA PvP. While a minority of people do enjoy and play FFA PvP for its own sake, a lot just like it for griefing.

But here's the catch : To engage in griefing, you need targets. And NOT the guys that love FFA PvP for itself. They're just too thick-skinned and trained. You need regular players to victimize.

Which is why you get endless threads about how bad it was that such-and-such game (usually Ultima Online) introduced "Carebear" servers. Simply because players that did not like FFA PvP for itself and were fed up with griefing flocked there, leaving FFA PvP servers filled with genuine enthusiasts... And griefers without prey.

You get the same whenever a regular MMO has FFA servers. There's a minority a dedicated players (not very many of them) plus an infestation of griefers in some zones. Who prey on people trying out that ruleset and sometimes will come troll on the regular boards (thinking insulting players and accusing them of "cowardice" will somehow prompt them to come and get ganked) They generally don't stray in the regular PvPers territory because they would be KoS'ed and camped.

That's the same here. Offering an option would result in a majority of players choosing the most co-op option, a minority of players choosing FFA because they genuinely like it and lots of griefers without preys.

Which is what GGG wants to avoid. They WANT griefing because they think it's cool and interesting. Go figure.

Well stated.

Humans without dignity and respect? working as intended...

I want individual loot on yellow items. You can do free for all on whites and blues if you want, but not yellows. People are assholes and I don't trust them to be generous. I don't see how free for all or timers for individuals is better than just giving me my own loot. If someone wants it, we can do a trade. However, the last thing I want is some asshole snatching up my gear because I wasn't quick enough too it.
It's only yours when it's in your stash.
'It works will with my group of friends' Is the only logical argument for keeping the loot system unchanged. FFA works better the more exclusive your player base is.

Works Great - A small group of hardcore players who only group together
Works Great - Alpha realm which is an exclusive group of tester and devs
Worked Ok - Closed Beta a semi-exclusive group of dedicate fans
???? - Open Beta

I have yet to venture into groups during Open Beta.
