Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.

Seeing as we haven't heard a word about this matter from the devs recently, i think it's safe to say that OB will have no changes to the looting system.

I only hope they address it sooner rather than later. As it stands right now, grouping with anyone other than really close friends is not an option for me. It's not driving me away from the game, it just makes the game a lot less fun than it could be.

Careful! You will awake the "you dont have to" fraction of the forum, but i agree with you because it happens often in games that players are "indirectly" forced to do something.

For instance whenever balance changes come up people say "Nooo, dont nerf XY, why not let player have fun and those who dislike the OPness of XY dont have to use it"
But this is a broken arguement because feature XY forces powerplayer or lets say "dedicated player" to do something which might be no fun(abusing feature XY) and therefore limits the possibilities of a game as other things become less viable

This is nature, people go the way with the least resistance and if partying sucks because of getting ripped off "you are forced to not play party". Simple as that.

I am also against FFA loot system.
I feel that party members need to concentrate on the existing mob then rushing to grab his loot going on countdown.
I consider of paying for the silver kiwi package but when I learn about the party look system, I changed my mind.
I hope they change the loot system to individual drop or at least add the count down timer to like 30 sec so that we can focus on the mobs first before taking the loot.
The main problem I have is that the current loot system is bad for private parties and public parties. When I play with my close friends in a private party, I want a full-FFA loot system, as we have no problems sharing items/accounts and the timer can cause slowdown to grabbing loot.

For public parties, its just a bad option all around if you don't want to ninja items. If you actually want to cooperate and have a even loot allocation to everyone its pretty much impossible. There is no way (especially in large groups) to even tell if someone is stealing items from other people.

What I want is a simple option to right click my portrait in town and select from a few loot options (Full FFA, timers, extended timers, etc..) and have that loot option for the party.

What I would really like though is a new thread for this topic. Both loot threads have horribly outdated first posts. For threads that are 300+ pages the only thing new readers do is read the first page and the last one. For a thread like this, most the good ideas and discussion are buried in pages 100-200. If forum moderator is still reading this, would you be apposed to a new loot thread (one with a good comprehensive first post of the main discussion of this thread), then closing the two current ones? Especially for the other thread, the first post is extremely misleading (remove FFA loot) and I believe the original poster has stated that they miss-worded it. I feel like there are a lot of people still just reading the thread as "Completely remove FFA" and what it really should be is "Please add loot options."
Some people tend to point out that they need something else to do in a party other than mindlessly click monsters.

To that my response is.....if its mindless then shouldn't we be asking the devs to make the monster slaying more difficult/interesting/challenging?

Edit: A new thread would be cool. The first page could be a summary of the arguments from both sides of the issue. Also a summary from what the devs have said up to this point. Their reasoning for putting it in the game is whats most important.

I have a feeling Chris made this thread as a sort of recycle bin for all posts relating to looting...

Bravo!

If we make a new thread, it will just be the same people behaving in the same ways grinding the same axes. If we want a fresh start, we basically need to lock everyone who is in this thread out of the replacement thread.

lol can you say make new account? think about it
Good point.
This type of topic is ruined forever I guess. :/
The point of having a new thread had nothing to do with only having new people in it. Oh well it was just an idea. Don't really care if it happens or not.
