Fuck You stryker. POE will be enjoyable for me as long as this is the last time I interact with you.

You tried to claim you aren't a troll. The proof is in the pudding. The words you type on the screen are proof that you are just a worthless troll. The fact that you don't believe that just means you aren't trolling on purpose, it's just your personality. Newsflash: That's worse than being a troll.

lol. I had no idea I was so hard to talk to. F*** me eh? If you would like to discuss anything maturely please send me a PM Panda. I had no idea I could make someone so upset.

BTW to all reading, I love Path of Exile and will stay no matter what.

I am just passionate about this issue because I don't want people to be ignored who have very valid opinions.

GGG wants this game to have mass appeal as they have said recently. That makes sense since it is a free to play game. I really want it to be successful.

Thanks

Edit: I will be as happy as anyone once this gets resolved. Heck I would even be happy if these threads were finally locked so no one could ever discuss the issue again. But I can't stop myself from posting about something that I care about.

Call me a troll if that makes you feel better.

The current system promotes group play and a "sharing is caring" methodology. The only reason I can conjure up as to why somebody would want instanced loot rather than how it is currently is because they often find themselves partying with bad players. I personally haven't experienced any of these bad players.

If I'm in a party and something drops that I want, I ask for it, and 90% of the time they will be happy to give it up unless it is something of a large value. If somebody else wants something that I got, I would gladly give it up. Does my generous persona make me one of a itsy bitsy minority or something?

Also, to make loot instanced will remove what little reason people have to actually communicate in a public party. One may as well play alone.

I am all in favor of leaving everything as it is currently setup.

Not all want to see an instanced loot system. Would you be opposed to adding an additional 1-4 seconds to the base timer? This change would still preserve the current system.

Its an opinion Panda on both sides and anyone who has posted on this subject does give their reason, either they enjoy it or they do not...As it stands one side, your side, wishes to impose what you(and myself) enjoy on others when there is no reason, sorry let me clarify since the "good" wont be implied...there is no "good" reason why both sides of this argument can not be given the option to choose when the mechanic is based on game enjoyment and such a simple compromise is easily made.

Be careful Xyre. I bet your painfully close to Panda accusing you of lacking common sense or not being very "bright".

lol...I think he already has hasnt he? Apparently I am the lowest common denominator for believing there should be an option, even though I enjoy playing FFA more myself...The problem with him having an aggressive stance towards me is that I enjoy FFA and see through him on this. You want to stump him just ask him this, "How does it take away from your enjoyment by allowing people who do not enjoy FFA to be able to join designated groups that have nothing to do with you or your FFA group?"

Because to someone like me who enjoys fighting against other sharks, it is not an issue and it does not affect me at all...however to the more insecure little sharks who would rather take advantage of easy prey...well now that is a different story.

I am sure it was the devs desire to give the players a feeling of nervous tense "cut-throat"(to quote Jonathan or Chris)action. One way they accomplished this is through a traditional FFA looting system, and they are right, it can create that mood on many levels for certain players. The problem is this, when I consider a tense cut-throat FFA situation, I think "fun exciting FFA", however others see it as "Stressfull unfair lootmongering"...to the people that feel its stressful and unfair it will only make them want to barter with others less, post on the forums less, and ultimately play less, which is not good for the community.

The thing is, is that it's counter productive to this. Obviously I can't speak for anyone else, but for me FFA loot just means I will never play public games. Completely removing that element of the game rather than dealing with the possibility of it.

Basically, there will probably be less overall player interaction because people don't want to deal with the drama or frustration of losing FFA drops, and would rather just play with friends or alone.

I think the best solution is to give the party leader the chance to extend the timer in Hardcore and Default. GGG could then restrict the ability to do this in race leagues.

That is a good point and I just forgot to add that to the statement, I would say it does everything I mentioned and it makes people not want to interact with others in groups as you have said...My point was basically that it hurts the community in a number of ways for the option not to be there.
I still think the loot timer hurts more than it helps. It causes people to stand and wait around items. It also gives a false sense of ownership on items when that is not the point of the system. To me the timed loot is a broken mechanic. I really enjoy FFA. It gets people in groups to talk. It is fast paced. You just grab items and go. I wouldn't mind all that much if there was an option for instanced loot, but I don't see GGG going that route. Everyone already complains that grouping is too easy. Grouping is balanced to help you through the game when you are stuck. There has to be some drawback (not that I really count it as a drawback as some of you do.) Instanced loot makes grouping a boring experience in my opinion.

I wouldn't be opposed to extra time on the timer, I think that would be wonderful. Especially in Hardcore when you are in a group and you don't have the time to run to an item by fear of death. in HC #1 priority is killing monsters.

I agree that co-op is significantly easier than solo. I believe that they should make co-op harder by providing monster an additional 2% attack/cast/movement speed buff for each additional player. I feel that forcing a loot mechanic that many player view as frustrating and unfair in an attempt to increase the difficulty in co-op is a bad idea.

They should up the co-op difficulty and increase the timer or have it affected by number of surviving monsters. Co-op may have been intended ‘to help you through the game when you are stuck’ but in practice people play with a group because it’s fun to play with others.
