General Feedback About Community Relations and Game Development / Focus's

Hey GGG,

Haven't played for 2-3 weeks now. It's had me thinking about why I stopped playing, and how GGG could improve it's developer to player relationship.

For starters, It's strongly felt among the people I played with that streamers do not know what the vast majority of players want. A very high percentage of streamers live in their own bubble or little echo chambers of their communities. If you are going to take player feedback serious, please look to implement a way of voting that is available to all players. Right now our only options are to go to the forums.. which at times seem essentially un-monitored, just don't see the community being engaged with enough and it's extremely hard to track even the updates that have occurred, let alone make it seem like your voice is being heard in anyway.

If you want examples of where streamer feedback has clearly led to decisions you've made with development, I can point those out, however it's done, no point in blasting those streamers for their bad takes, and the effect those bad takes have had on the game (heavy player decline).

TLDR; IMPLEMENT VOTING SO ALL PLAYERS ARE HEARD, NOT JUST STREAMERS.

I hate to break it to you, but they have no interest in feedback, or communicating, never have. The handful of streamer interviews were just PR for the new product. That's not me being sinical, there's is 10 years of evidence right here.

'The' interview itself spoke volumes about their view/attitude towards what players feel about the current state of game, "it's ok for me... I haven't noticed that issue, etc. etc.

They had the community liaison for a while (of which they refused to use the official forums, only Reddit) but she left so...

Voting is something that will never happen and should never happen.
The game needs to be developed by the people who understand game development and not by 20 angry people on a forum.
Thats not to say that people cant give feedback and their opinions but the reality is that alot of the time there are things regarding game design that people dont understand and also the game isnt designed to be perfect for everyone, because thats impossible.

In regards to your point about streamers thats not what my experience has been, atleast most of the streamers ive watched theyve been pretty on point with their feedback, ofc you never agree with everything.
Also several of the streamers have done interviews with the devs where theyve asked questions that have been submitted to them from viewers and it seams to more or less be in line with what their talking about themselves. So it atleast isnt just them alone that have that opinion.
Its pretty hard to try to understand what your getting at without giving any examples of what you disagree with.
Community polls / voting is not a bad idea.

It would be somewhat biased because people who have stopped playing mostly don't visit the forums either, but it would at least give quantifiable insight to what the playerbase wishes for.

Around 500 000 people have already voted, with their feet.

That is the vote that counts, but the problem is that the dev team does not seem to know (or care) why they voted with their feet.

Polls are one way to try to figure out why.

So, people who understand game development have not done a great job.

Perhaps a different method is worth a shot?

They have players opinion, that's how players use the mechanics or ignore them, how long they play, level they reach, currency they used etc. They have the data, no amount of feedback is relevant.
Streamers point of view is definitely worth something, because they spend a lot of time in the game, so they can pinpoint some stuff to prioritize data analysis.

You thinking streamers are the reason for player decline is the perfect illustration as to why a designer shouldn't worry too much over expressed feedback. You stopped playing 2-3 weeks ago. That's the relevant feedback you gave, this post is useless.

You are just lacking a fundamental understanding of how game releases work, how league cycles work and how early access games work in general.

You are just lacking a fundamental understanding of gaming industry.

The business model of the gaming industry heavily relies on the fact that people (preferably as many as possible) play your game.

Not at all, as most likely GGG cannot decipher from the player data why he stopped playing.

That is the single most important datapoint.
If you think GGG doesn't communicate and listen to player feedback you need to take a good look around
