Mana cost are insane.
Guess what, I'm a melee (pure melee, not slam) user. Mid campaign I switched using normal attacks. Just 10 hits in the boss area depletes my mana and mana potions. I was like whaaaaaaaat? Even my normal attack does more damage.

" Well there's the reason for having mana issues. You've purposely taken the biggest downgrade to mana regen. There are nodes for decreasing mana costs around the monk/witch area of passive tree, can get like 20-30% less costs. "Beidat honored the pact, though Mancy wouldn't take off Doryani’s prototype."

Playing an Incinerate Pathfinder and it's at like 600 mana per second lol, feels bad man. Works though

All skills demand insane amounts of mana in high levels. Devs need to lower it a bit.

As a sorceress player, the mana usage is insane and even with that amount of mana usage, I still can't compete with lightning spear for clear. Some people here have no clue about playing mana builds; no amount of mana per kill/mana regen helps. Devs clearly hate the sorceress build. The only thing that helped me was the mana recoup, which makes things less intense, but I still run out of mana. The spells are just unbalanced, too much mana for too little damage, whereas a lightning spear clears the whole screen with too little mana usage and too much damage.

They already lowered the cost of most skills in 0.2 but it look like there's still work to do.

a high level attack costing 1000 mana is something only ggg would do.

" Yep I know I also took lich ascendancy that takes ur mana regen base as 6% of ur max life. With that there should b a way to work around that concept and get some decent mana regen... And actually is working in that regard more or less... The problem is the incredible amount of mana cost for habilities. Im not even taking the increased mana cost in any node and Im still reaching insane levels of mana cost in some skills. |

Guess you could invest less in skill levels? I know your sheet dps will take a big hit but if it prevents downtime from being oom it might not be as much of a dps change then indicated.
" If a character can't manage the increase in skill cost for 8-12% more dmg then they should stop leveling the skill. In 0.1 my melee character was using level 33-36 skills just fine- but I built my character specifically to be able to do that. Mana costs are pretty insane right now on the higher skill lvls, it's true, no sane person would deny it.
GGG wanted to kill mana stackers and they did so intentionally. The 0.2 nerf of gemling along with the maelstrom flask says it all. |
