Is it just me or this 10% loose XP too much?

Im 79% of the way through lvl 94.
My DPS isn't great as I'm minion build hybrid with ED/Contagion and Dark effigy.

However my survivability is pretty damn good with 15% of all dmg negated, capped all resists except chaos, 7k energy shield and 2k life.

I don't die much but getting T16 maps to level is harsh right now. I'm hitting perhaps 1 in 20 corrupts on maps and then I have to have a cleansed zone with irradiated so I can benefit properly. Not to mention extra XP (a lot of cleansed has reduced xp in favour of rarity/quantity).

If it weren't for the Omen of Amelioration I wouldn't even be caring about levelling. In fact, I don't even need the atlas points right now until I respec when I get bored of this build.

Losing 2.5% XP over 10% is a huge difference. The fact is you shouldn't be dying that often in maps otherwise you are over-extending your build. If you are getting one-shot by anything that isn't a boss slam then your build isn't good for purpose. We have to have at least some danger otherwise where is the gauge of your build? You may as well remove damage from the game at that point.

It is frustrating, I agree, and I would like to see the end of XP penalty on death. It takes long enough to from lvl 90 to 95, and it's exponentiality is the most disappointing factor when you can lose an entire day of your life grinding to a bad combination of damage.

The cost is loosing 15 hours of your real life time for one technical issue, for example.
That is not acceptable. Not by any means. Thats not about skill. Thats not about knowledge.
Ddos is not up to GGG.
There are skillpoints locked behind lv100. Does anybody notice that?
For me lv95 is probably the pain tolerance in current state, more importantly, given period of time.
5 skillpoints are a full itemslot, give or take a mod. Locked behind the same amount of time it took to reach that point?

Just so you know, ARPGs emerged in the 1990s, and it seems that playing a genre dating back to 1990 doesn't bother you too much.

I totally agree with you. My time is VALUABLE. If I die and my xp gets STOLEN by greedy devs my valuable times has been wasted.

In fact I'd like to take it a step further. If I die fighting a boss I lost 2 1-2 minutes of my valuable time. I shouldn't die to anything. If I do I've wasted valuable time having to retry the boss or map I should have already completed

The devs need to make us invulnerable to damage so my valuable time is not flushed down the drain by dying.
i died two times with active OMEN but it did not get used, fix this $&§%" maybe?!
Well, yeah kinda, but make it fun to get to that place. And dont make it take 500h in average.

I have no issues with penalties in PoE1. I wonder why ...

The difference is that PoE2 does not respect your time investment. Therefore, PoE2 STEALS your progress.
