Lets be real, game asked for bad reviews.

When game released in December, hype was unreal.
People came, people played.
Complaints were made.
Improvements were promised.

4 months later.
0.2 comes
Very small ammount of issues, that really bothered people in 0.1 was fixed.

So who is the main villain in this company.
Dude, comon. Make a stream were you play trials. Sekhema and Chaos. Play until you reach finish. But not once but multiple times. I want you to feel how time consuming they are. Do it.
Play maps t15/16 get oneshotted by some random mob. I wanna see your face when it happens, i really do.
Get rect by boss oneshots.
Get on stream, show us how you play your own game.

I thought i am the only one, who was upset with the game.

You cannot position a game to masses which is made for small hardcore community.
You cannot give hardcore people a product for the masses.

Can you choose what exactly do you want to present to the community? You cant be that blind to a fact, that your game is being penetrated from both sides by hardcore and casual players. You cant have both, but if you want, look at the threads.

Choose already which it will be.

But what do you expect when they probably playtest this game with lvl101 characters in full mirror-tier gear. That would explain all the horrid balance and """difficulty""" of the game(which is just big hp numbers big damage from enemies so oneshots everywhere, such innovative game design has never before been seen on this planet)

Hard disagree and I think your tone is very unhelpful.

The main problem people had with 0.1 was the end game and most of the changes in 0.2 were addressing that. The end game is much more engaging now but you don’t see people talking about it because positive posts don’t get people fighting so there’s no engagement.
hard agree, as of 0.2.0 the game has become even more of a slogfest, with less rewards, and the items that made doing pinnacle content worth it nerfed to 1ex trash unique status.

on top of that they managed to introduce 2 new broken builds that do exactly what the ones they nerfed do.

70% of the community defending the game is playing one of these builds.

its hard to see how crap the vision is when you meta game the system then claim to the people who dont that there is no issue.

A lot of people have OTHER problems with the game, and feel that 0.2 was a HUGE step backwards. The problem in the endgame was a developer problem - too little build diversity, some abilities overpowered. The players (mostly) didnt think this was a problem, and they were having fun. 0.2 wrecked their fun. They're pissed because the solution to a (to them) non-existent problem ruined the game for them.

Endgame is non existent. Have you even read forums? Are you GGG employee?
There is no loot in endgame to even call it endgame? Marching from one blank map to another with no rewards is not "endgame"
Getting yellow item with - 8 dexterity and +50 life from t16 map boss isnt a game. Its a disgrace. How? Why didnt even question these things?

This is actually one of the best points I have read.

I think that, in short, the idea to have a "ruthless" game in POE 2 was a good one. At the end of the day there is no point in having POE1 and POE2 offer the same experience. If they are the same you just need the one.

I dislike POE 2, and a lot, but I don't mind because I love POE 1. I'll play POE 1 and let people with a different taste enjoy what POE 2 offers.

Where GGG messed up is when they realized that POE 2 doesn't appeal to a lot of the fans that come over from POE 1 and newer players and tried ( and failed ) to fix that. They allocated resources meant for POE 1 live service to POE 2 to make unplanned and undertested changes to POE 2 to accomodate complaints from players that will never like the ruthless game POE 2 is bound to be. Know your target audience.

People say they are too stubborn. If only that were true. If only they stuck to their guns and didn't make changes they didn't initially want to and kept POE 2's core systems. Instead they tried to change a lot of the unpopular mechanics to a lot of more casual players and slap on a bunch of nerfs to player power and loot to try and obtain their target amount of "friction".

They should have kept to the vision more profusely and only made changes that fit that vision. They should have kept to the promised POE 1 cycle and clearly communicated that POE 1 would remain as it was and offered a fast paced experience and POE 2 would be a methdical and ruthless experience.

Now they are flailing around making changes for people that will never like what POE 2 was meant to be while at the same time neglecting the established game that made them what they are today.

Like OP said. Make up your mind. Stick to your vision and keep your promises.

It might seem like everyone agrees with you from reading the forums but that's not the case. I was having fun in 0.1 with herald stacking but I was also burning out with it because it completely trivialized the game. The balance problem was very real.

Build diversity is nowhere near dead now. It might look like it is if you look at softcore trade league but the reason we have so many lightning spear builds is because the entire marketing for the patch was around the huntress. The league is literally called "Dawn of the Hunt" and huntress was the only new class added, lightning spear just happened to be the most popular build in that toolkit.

If you look at poe2.ninja for HC SSF Dawn of the Hunt league (https://poe2.ninja/builds/dawnhcssf) you can actually see that almost all the ascendancies have players in the 90s using all sorts of different skills, only 12% of that leaderboard is using lightning spear.

You haven't heard of these builds because most of the content creators were also playing huntress because they knew they would get the most clicks that way as it was the most anticipated class (can't blame them for that). But that doesn't mean that there aren't a ton of smaller creators going around trying crazy stuff and coming up with builds that are also highly competitive.

You can have real gripes with 0.2 but it seems to me like you have a mistaken notion that GGG isn't doing their best with making the best game that they can that people will enjoy. That really is 100% their goal. This whole parasocial bashing of GGG just weirds me out a lot, you can leave your negative thoughts about the game without jumping to bashing GGG and trying to "call them out".
