You know what universally works for everyone?

Trade. Just trade for the items you want.

Would agree with Chunk, taking this statement as the campaign requires trade though is not correct, and being purposefully obtuse.

Trade if you personally feel like you need to, the campaign does not require it though.

Trade is a tool that is there to help you with some power, should you feel like you need it.

If you dont want to use it? Perfectly fine. But you have to have the resources and/or skill to make up for that fact.

Hope this helps!

they should just give reasonable gear as quest rewards at certain stages of the campaign, nothing OP just good enough to help those struggling with rng to feel like they are progressing. if you dont need them you just salvage or sell

Yeah, again guy. I understand you do not like how GGG has implemented trade. That's very clear. I'm not interested in debating with you about how they should have implemented it.

What I'm saying is that the game as it is designed today is balanced around trade. So if you are having trouble progressing, then you should probably think about utilizing trade. Despite the fact that it is not implemented in the way you would prefer, it will facilitate your progression through the game effectively.

no do not misunderstand, i do trade, and i'm fine with it.
I'm just saying that not every player is the same, and excpecially for new players, imho forcing them to trade outside the game too early is not the best option.
As you said, right now the game is balanced around trade, but imho campaign should be at least sustainable per se.
And it (kind of) is, but only if you check the vendors regularly.
In short, those things may be something that a new player does not know and does not expect to do, that can compromise the game experience.
That's all :)

That's something PoE1 did - so not the vision.

If you have to trade to complete the campaign - your ARPG is bad, period.

Absolutely my guy. If that's a rule you want to invent for yourself and apply to the ARPGs you play then have at it. I'm not going to tell you that you shouldn't apply this completely arbitrary personal rule that you just made up to the ARPGs that you play.

I just really want you to understand that this is a personal choice that you're making to apply an arbitrary rule to the ARPGs that you play.

There is absolutely no rational objective argument that supports the claim that "ARGPs with campaigns that require trade are bad." That's a thing you decided was true for yourself. There may be some people that agree with you, but I promise you there are plenty who have absolutely no f'ing idea why you would ever suggest that as a rule in the first place.

However, and maybe that is something not everyone is aware about, checking the vendors every single lv up is crucial because most of the times, you'll find there pieces you'd want to pick up.

And this is not even true. I do check every level up. But as yet have not found a single upgrade from the vendors. Found some useful amulets and a belt, but zero weapons or armour.

So while this strategy may work for some it is not a universal answer.

Yep, I agree there's still a heavy RNG factor.

It's not a rule I invented, it's literally how ARPGs work since... Diablo 1.

In any ARPG, multiplayer interactions like "trade" were an addition to the experience, if you want to engage with it, and NOT a mandatory mechanic you need to engage with to complete the campaign.

everyone screaming that trade is the answer is forgetting some crucial points.

1. currency isnt dropping in the campaign outside of act 1.
2. you have to have currency to trade.
3. people actually have to answer your trade messages because GGG wont make an auction house. (maybe they need the traffic on their website?)

on the original point of the post, i dont think its as bad as op laid it out, honestly reading it my initial thought was skill issue. i will say though, that after 400 hours in .1 and multiple toons all the way to red maps, i got one toon to doryani in .2, not even cruel and quit playing. no drops, no loot, yes checking vendors, yes did trade, but the game just wasnt fun at all and i had to force myself to get that far.

.1 was alot of fun, i wish they would have just added more content and left it as is.

Yo, fella.

After all those buffs you can pick corrupted WHITE scepter with two sockets, stick two bear talismans and finish the campaign in few hours.

The hell are you talking about?

tell me you haven't played the game at all without telling me
