This needs to be FIXED IMMEDIATELY

Actually SSF is more HC than HC is. Cause you cant cheat while playing SSF (or I dont know how to do it ^^)
It's not surprising to find out that a lot of hardcore characters are not really hardcore, they just want a semblant of an ego boost.
Tech guy
Why do you care how other people play the game?
"
Basically anything "hardcore" players say is immediately ignored by me. In 0.1 hardcore players were the only guys that used all 6 portals, think about that. Everyone else got 1 try at a map they got 6.

Real hardcore - No pause, no trade, no sharing stash and no migration. Your hardcore guy dies and the character is erased will all the gear.

POE hardcore - You relog, no xp loss, full access to trade and bypass standard mechanics. Never lose loot....

They should call it what it is, cheezy peezy mode for guys who think "hardcore" lives up to its name in POE. It never has been and never will be "hardcore". It has been a meme forever in POE. GGG may as well implement an auto log feature for when the players reach low life/es.

Reality check - if you cheat log once in your HC playthough your character died. Just play trade and stop kidding yourself you are good.

Chill. You don't need an excuse to play softcore.

But what's the point of Hardcore then? It's meant to be THE challenge.

You know, these HC streamers belittle SC players and make fun of them and their "6-portal defence", while they use something that's even more softcore.
If you make a mistake as a softcore player and die, you lose 10% exp.
If a hardcore player makes a mistake, they use the logout macro (pause function) and avoid everything.
The only danger is then reduced to instant one-shots. That's it.
In the end, they relog and use their next portal too.

They always bring up the argument "but the game is designed around the logout macro anyway bla". No. No, it's not. GGG designed stuff with the macro in mind; that's a huge difference.

I just personally don't like the pauses being allowed at all. But I'm not a game dev, so I don't know what work arounds would be possible to prevent it.

If it were up to me I would remove the pause function in maps for everyone. But, I would also remove the 10% XP loss too. If the hardcore players are dying to BS, then that needs to be addressed by the devs. That would be a problem with the game itself. So, I would probably wait until full release until implementing this, but that's just my thoughts! I honestly haven't played HC in poe2, so I don't know what actual HC players think. If they were to share their thoughts, I would always be open to changing mine
If they really wanted to make this a souls-like, then remove the pause all together.

How many streamers would be playing it after that I wonder.
It's a game.

Good solution is stopping being obsessed with other people playing the game. Instead focus on your own experience with the game.
There is no level of hardcore that will ever be enough for the serious gamer. It's just turtles alllll the way down.

For instance, why even let you pause the game to begin with? That shouldn't be a thing for a true gamer. Also, for a true gamer, you shouldn't be allowed to log out. It needs to be always running, like a Tamagotchi. If you don't check on it every few minutes, something might show up and kill your character.

And, of course, we all know that "real" hardcore means that, when your character dies, it and your entire stash should be deleted forever instead of moved to softcore. That much is just a given, obviously. It just makes sense!

However, I say that isn't good enough. Those are only half-measures! I have a few very "modest proposals" to make the video game truly palatable for even the most demanding of players:

The REAL, real way to do hardcore is for the game to delete itself from your hard drive and for GGG to ban your account and block your IP on death. The process needs to begin exactly 1/3 of a second before the final blow is delivered, just to prevent people from unplugging. Some streamer might cheat otherwise.

But why not go even further? "Real" hardcore means that, when your character dies, GGG deletes your account AND hires a hitman to... well, you know. I can't even imagine how GGG could have the gall to call something "hardcore" if you don't die in real life if you die in the game! Laughable! Amateurish!

Still, though, that's just lazy programming for casuals. There is still evidence, after all. Instead, not only must there be a hitman involved, but they also need to contact your government to delete all records of your existence, collect and burn all your property, and, through radical brain surgery, erase the memory of anyone who ever knew you.

No, that still isn't far enough. When your character dies in the game, GGG needs to contract CERN to create a black hole that swallows the entire Earth, completely destroying the Solar System. That'll really make the streamers "git gud"!

But no! That STILL isn't enough! What ACTUALLY needs to happen is, when your character dies in the game, GGG must invent a time machine, travel back to the moment of the Big Bang, and somehow prevent it from ever occurring.

It is the only way to be sure.

GGG needs to correct these obvious deficiencies immediately. Without the threat of oblivion to the point of being wiped out of time and existence, the game just isn't fun for anybody seeking an authentic hardcore experience. Anything less than this is just softcore with an ego boost.

Not to humble-brag too much, but as a serious gamer myself (I mean, can you not tell how serious I am?!?), every time I die in a game, I look forward to grinding myself back up during the 14.6 billion years following the total destruction of the universe that contained my failure. First as a being of pure energy, then as subatomic particles, and finally atoms. As the proto-mass of the next Earth aggregates and cools from its molten state over an Eon, I meticulously plan my next build and chastise myself for my failures, hoping that, in at least THIS new universe, I will finally use the space bar at the prompt and dodge the miller so I can see the rest of the game. Anyone who doesn't play like me does not understand how games were meant to be played. And, I'll tell you what, those 14.6 billion years just fly by faster with each death!
