Is this game simply not for me? Curious about vision

I am genuinely curious about the development vision.

This has been by far the worst ARPG experience I have ever had.

I have 7000 hours in PoE1.

I played all the Diablos, Wolcen, Last Epoch, and all the random single player ones (hero siege, slormancer, etc).

Is this game simply not for me? It is genuinely not a good experience.

They took a game I loved and turned it to shit. Blizzard 2.0
Yeah man, I have no idea what they are doing. It's a complete mess.
you're about to get a hoard of mouthbreathers in here to defend this shit patch and "vision"
its still in beta. poe 1 beta was not better, many things will change until release.
I feel that.

I just decided to move on to other games. Sad, because I want to like PoE2, but right now, PoE2, in its current form, is not for me.

If you like the current format, then please have fun.

Maybe I'll return after the next balance patch - who knows?

I resonate with steelmage, we're excusing a lot of this as early access and assuming the things we dont like arent intended and will be fixed. This patch is making me think those things I dislike arent mistakes but the vision.
One cannot help but wonder how such a lust for loot can affect a persons mind. Although these exiles appear to be our salvation, it would not take much for them to turn on us as easily as they fight gods and demons.
That is pretty much where I'm at.

I want the game to be for me. I want to love the game -- but it feels like the vision is still split.

I like the idea of a slower, more methodical gameplay experience. I like that intimate and memorable combat experience you get from an intense battle with a tough foe.

It's why I love games like No Rest for the Wicked...

But in order for that to work, you can't have 5+ enemies zerging your character. That isn't methodical.. it's just like Vampire Survivors only instead of your character scaling with the content -- you scale when you win the lottery... and your character is animation locked like in a Souls-Like.

Also -- I'm just not into games with layers and layers of RNG where you can just grind for hours and have nothing to show for it if you're unlucky. It feels like pissing in the wind to me. I need definitive tracks for improving my character.

I'm also not into games where I have to invest hours and hours and hours into a character that I'm not enjoying before I can start to enjoy it. That feels like CBT to me.

To add insult to injury -- I like that they are adding synergy to skills.. but I don't like the way they're doing it in POE 2. I don't want my skills to tell me to use them in conjunction with another skill. That is the kinda thing I expect to see in D4. It's the game telling me what skills to use.

I want to find my own combinations for skills.. so I want to see synergies with effects that can come from many skills... not just like "Disengage does stuff to Parried Targets." or "Twisters do ass damage unless you use them in conjunction with the whirlwind skill... which requires that you stand in one spot on an evasion character."

I dunno. I just feel like they've lost their way. I also feel like they're disrespecting the new player/beginning of the game experience in order to cater to people who only care about the end game... and I get that to some degree... but I'm not gonna play a game that requires I suffer for 15 hours before the game gets fun.

It needs to be fun right off the rip -- and that just isn't even remotely how I felt picking the game back up. It took me 1 hour this patch to lose interest... and that is really just disappointing.

But at a certain point it's on me to acknowledge when a game isn't for me... and just move on. I'm kinda hopeful that some feedback might help steer them in the right direction.. but I'm probably wasting my breath.
It's not a good experience. But according to recent reviews most people are in your camp and GGG normally listens...

I feel like the team is confusing slow attrition fights with difficulty. This isn't difficult, its boring. It's like someone that was very bad at Elden Ring interpreted its popularity wrong and created a video game.
