I'm a new player, and unfortunately this reply has confirmed my growing suspicions.

I've 115 hours and I'm in a similar predicament to the OP - albeit not so cross about it. But there is no skill ceiling as such, it's just a time sink? And the primary game mode is played through a web browser; aka the trading site.

Well, at least I've confirmed that. Fair enough - it's not like £21 was a lot really. I reckon I'd do a few iterations of the leagues, tapping out at 85-90. I imagine there's a whole end game out there waiting for me, but ... well, I don't have the time to find it!

In four months you kinda do or whatever time this leauge has been out. But youre still new and maybe youre not finding gear upgrades for yourself but you might be finding for other builds which is a way to make currency too. But if youre new you really dont know whats good for other builds yet and probably selling items to vendor you could sell for a good price or not even picking up the good bases which can get good rolls for other builds.
Even white stellar amulets go for 1 div a pop on the trade chanel. If youre not saving all the white jewelry youre not playing correctly.

There are many people playing this game, all with varying amount of disposable time. You cannot cater to all of them. There is a game that lacks complexity and is easily soloable by a dad casual gamer. It's called diablo 4 - give it a spin.

Well, I think you can. Just make one char max out in 200h instead of 1k, give actual gear to the player and watch how the game pops off. It does not harm anything or anyone. Why have a mirror in the game, if only the guys who do not play the game but trade can have it? SSF is a complete waste of time in the first place. So yeah, it is actually a good idea to give D4 another shot and skip next season in poe2. Maybe I just write off the money and do D4 again, period. I can have a half baked game without buying stash tabs and at least know that im getting ripped off.
Be careful when stepping into the revolving door, some people report getting stuck.

Well, I always use the small door next to it. I am well aware of that. But most people forget about D2R. Im good, even though, I like fresh graphics...

Your solution to make the game cater to all players doesn't work.

Now the game does not cater to ppl who want their "character done" in 200 hours but is for ppl who want to spend 1000 hours or more.
If you then change it to 200 instead of 1000, then the game doesn't cater anymore to players who want to take it 1000 hours or more.

That's why you can find different games of the same genre all over the place that take a different amount of time to "finish".

If you have basically no time and don't want something with actual depth, Diablo 4.
If you have some time to spend and want engaging depth, Last Epoch.
If you have unlimited time to spend and want the deepest, Path of Exile.

"It doesn't work" POE 2 is barely cracking top 50 of most active players according to stream charts (the metric that they cannot hide). Lots, if not most, of those games are older than POE 2... and of those 49 games ahead of it - how many of them require 1000 hours to level up a character?

Bruh... is it impossible for you NOT to argue with me, especially if your point is nonsense?

In the top 50 of Steam are atm:
01. Counter Strike 2 - Free
02. Dota 2 - Free
03. PUBG - Free
04. R.E.P.O - 10 bucks
05. Rust - 40 bucks
06. Monter Hunter Wilds - 70 bucks
07. Marvel Rivals - Free
08. Banana - Free
09. Apex Legends - Free
10. GTAV Legacy - 30 bucks and was free in the past
11. Rainbow Six Siege - 20 bucks
12. War Thunder - Free
13. FC 25 - 40 bucks
14. Warframe - Free
15. Spacewar - 2 bucks
16. Wallpaper Engine - 5 bucks
17. GTAV Enhanced - 30 bucks
18. Stardew Valley - 15 bucks
19. DayZ - 50 bucks
20. Baldur's Gate 3 - 60 bucks
21. Crosshair X - 8 bucks
22. FM 2024 - 60 bucks
23. Call of Duty® - 80 bucks
24. Hearts of Iron IV - 50 bucks
25. Team Fortress 2 - Free
26. Kingdom Come 2 - 60 bucks
27. Helldivers 2 - 40 bucks
28. The Sims 4 - Free
29. Elden Ring - 60 bucks
30. Crab Game - Free
31. AC Shadows - 70 bucks
32. Delta Force - Free
33. Euro Truck 2 - 20 bucks
34. Dead by Daylight - bucks
35. Throne and Liberty - Free
36. Cyberpunk 2077 - 60 bucks (24 atm)
37. Valheim - 10 bucks
38. FragPunk - Free
39. Soundpad - 5 bucks
40. Red Dead Redemption 2 - 60 bucks
41. Bongo Cat - Free
42. Palworld - 30 bucks
43. VRChat - Free
44. tModLoader - Free
45. Terraria - 10 bucks
46. Destiny 2 - Free
47. SMC VI - 6 bucks
48. Farming Simulator 25 - 50 bucks
49. Schedule I: Free Sample - Free
50. Skyrim - 60 bucks

Of these 50 games 19 are "Free" and 11 cost less than 30 bucks.
Keep in mind, that most games on the list had already "Sales" for a few bucks.
So 30 games cost less than "Path of Exile 2".
Some ppl can't spend 30 bucks and/or are not willing to spend it right now when the game will be free on release anyway.
And cost is only one factor.

The other important thing is "Player Count".
If you take the current player count of PoE2 it does not appear on the list, but if you take the count when it released you end up with second place.
Depending on how well PoE2 performs when the new league releases - you would see it at the top of the list again.

More importantly, it literally doesn't matter how many of these games need 1000 hours or more to "finish" because they are... drum roll... different games.
GGG caters to the player base that wants to spend this amount of time with a certain depth.

Good luck with people on here. I know at least 10 people waiting for the game to fully release. They just aren't the types to buy a beta and play an unfinished game. Which is the majority.

These servers are going to get slapped when the full game releases. Even if the new patch gets shit on.

Notice how he pivoted from "Your solution to make the game cater to all players doesn't work" to "it literally doesn't matter how many of these games need 1000 hours or more to finish."
