POE2 being the main focus is the right choice.

I don’t like poe 2 and very much prefer poe 1, but in my opinion it’s completely unrealistic for GGG to run both games. I can’t see it ever work without creating a lot of frustration for both players and employees. I think they should scrap poe 1 and focus 100% on poe 2 even if it means that my 12 years with the franchise will come to an end.
i agree with this guy ^^^^^

you know that some people actually wrote term papers before CHatGPT even existed and they learned to start their sentences like that because it's formal and makes an argument sound more valid? Chat GPT can only do what actual people have done before for decades...
Totally agree, poe1 was my all yime favorite game but it does suffer from years ofnbloat and power creep. HUrts me to say this, but poe1 will be on life support very soon and they will direct 99% of their focus on poe2. As they should. It's going to be a better game.
Fully agree with OP.
+1 to op. I let GGG cook and they will deliver.
Sure is. Its a better game, it has potential.
PoE1 has 5k players and 3k of them are probably bots. When league comes it rises but goes back down in 1-2 months. The game is dead.

GGG made a very good choice. There was no choice really.

And you, reading this, the poe1 player that is mad. If you read this - just know that everyone is laughing at you guys and it is so fun to see all of your crybaby rage posts.
PoE2 should definitely be the focus. Maybe for the reasons stated, but mostly for the reason that they charged money for people to play it. They probably feel responsible to those who actively paid for this(even though it is EA guys).

I get that PoE1 players might be upset, but how long do they think both games will be supported? Probably a year after 2 fully releases I expect to see them announcing a slowdown of support for 1 followed eventually by a "final patch".

They overestimated their capability, like humans usually do.

They admitted to that and are going to work towards fixing it.

But people are acting like GGG personally attacked them by not releasing new PoE 1 league. I get they love the game, but damn, just take a deep breath and give the devs more time.

I think you are a bit naïve. They are not fixing anything, the video was basically "this went wrong, but we will still go the same way".
Needing time has nothing to do with planning time. And they are just not planning any time for PoE1.
They could have relaunched an old event or league with 0 effort. This is no mistake (it may be a mistake, but regarding priorities, time will tell) they just don't want to release anything for PoE1, because it would hurt PoE2.

Why would it hurt poe 2? It would actually probably be a pretty good time to release a poe 1 league... It's the tail end of 0.1. Poe 1 players and streamers are largely messing about in poe 2 at this point. Everyone else is probably a bit burned out by current endgame. 0.1.1 was more a qol fix than anything else, they don't particularly need a bunch of user data from that. The economy? I'm sure they're hoping it's not repeated.

Poe 1 league now would leave (guessing) 3-4 weeks before 0.2, time enough for races to play out etc. For new players to dip their toes in etc. It would be a good change in the lead-up to 0.2.

So y'know, Occam's razor and all that; probably they are actually all just bricking it about how much work needs to be done in the next 10 months. And er... doing that.
