How would the Poe2 elites feel about level 100 in campaign?

I wish we could just bring back the no level cap system from D2, so there wouldn't be a set number players would look at and demand to reach.
Bring me some coffee and I'll bring you a smile.

im confused here. level cap in D2 was 99.
i play HC and i laugh at people who complain about xp loss

its a great filter that makes getting to high level even more meaningful and an achievement

Yeah, you are right, I'm old and my memory isn't what it was. Let me rephrase:

I wish we didn't have a level cap, but rather an increasingly diminishing return on XP so that "max" level was impossible. I really don't like this whole "Oh, level 100, a fine, round number. I should be able to reach that by just playing the game casually" attitude. Never have.

Haven't played D2 in a decade. Tell me, are D2 players also demanding to reach level 99?

I love hardcore. I had 95s in D2, Maxed every character in HC in D3. I even completed hallow knight on steelsoul mode(hardcore). Its the large exp loss combined with the state of end game that is the problem. I have a hardcore ranger in poe2, and i think that penalty is fine. rn the campaign and the lessons you learn are a completely different experience from how end game is. I also dont understand how thick you all are to get upset, or bewildered by people leaving feedback when the devs asked for it.

I would love it to be more like diablo 2 leveling. they also had exp loss, and their endgame was just baal runs on repeat. poe2 shouldnt be worse than that, but it is. I actually only ever had 1 level 99, but the reason I didnt have more wasnt because the EXP loss penalty was too high, it was because the time commitment was too high to get a 99

we have increasingly diminishing return on xp right now, so reaching max lvl is nearly impossible for the "normal" player.

lvl 100 is a limitation in player power, thats all it is. there is clearly a wrong narrative in some players heads.

capping clvl early/easy wont feel good because this is the hard ceiling. reaching any hard ceiling prematurely removes sense of progression.

We're not asking for an increase in EXP gains.

I'm all for Lv.100 taking 200 combined hours of grinding, even on the most optimally tiered maps (like you can do in PoE1).

My problem is spending five hours to get 10% EXP at Lv.95, making one tiny mistake, and the game says, "F**k you and your time."

your problem is reducing everything to xp gain.
no high lvl player, besided the ladder guys, is putting any thought in their level. high level isnt a result of wanting to level up. its a result of putting together a good build and progressing the character to a powerful state. if you get that leveling up is unavoidable

I know we do. Everyone does. But as long as that number "is there", we will never run out of threads from players demanding to reach it easier by removing the 1-portal system, removing the XP penalty or... Reaching it by playing the acts.

Removing the cap and just adding even crazier diminishing returns would remove that narrative in their head.

people who say

"why does level 100 matter the content isn't gated... "

well then why did the devs make the level cap 100?

I rest my case.
