Punishment for death must stay. Without it there will be no balance. Just prepare for higher tiers.
Good thing there's a ton of other punishments that they already clearly indicated they are not going to remove.
Also I love that the only counter anyone seems to have to this is, "git gud kekw". Literal one-shots that combine into impossible conditions exist. It's just a shit mechanic that didn't age well.

Unjoyable game play udder a waste of my time/effort am to the point of quit myself
No matter just fall on deaf ears
At a certain point players either farm juiced content for loot and risk dying/staying at the current level, or dedicate themselves to safe/mundane xp grinding. Most players get to a point where the grind isnt worth the handful of skill points to be gained. so instead they decide lvl ~90 is the max level for them and farm gear instead. If you dont find grinding for gear fun and can't enjoy the game without an xp bar filling... well you won't enjoy poe.
Yeah but why should it be that way? If the last 10 points aren’t even as important as the gear and currency, the game isn’t really telling you “don’t do this” it’s just holding you back for no reason and that’s not very fun. You’re still going to do it because that’s what the game is ACTUALLY telling you to do, it’s SCREAMING at you “do juiced t15 maps and die but get rich because doing safe content to level is wrong/stupid”. It’s contradictory to the arguments everyone keeps making because they are all wrong and this is the truth.

The game doesn't say that.
Stop following builds and comparing yourself to streamers and just play the game your way man.

man imagine self reporting that you're bad at games publicly smh
yes lets ignore how insanely buggy the game is, and how many enemies the devs need to nerf cause they were just straight over tuned and killing people off screen.
yeah just totally all skill issue though /s
remove exp loss on death
Mob tuning, sure.
Remove xp loss? Why - if they tune the mobs which they are doing every patch, what is the problem?
cause its unnecessary
the whole point of punishing players for dying is to keep them where they need to be(summarizing the devs). you already lose your waystone, you already lose your map, you already lose all the loot you were going to get. now lets take away progress on top of all that? again its unnecessary.
most power comes from gear, a few extra passive points isnt going to take a bad player from doing t2 waystones to t16. its just so unnecessary and makes the game even more of a slog.

It's not about a few extra points. It's about unbelivable amout of time and determination which you need in order to reach lvl 100 and those extra points serves as rewrad for those who can do it. Somethig like a playing Runescape on ironman mode.
Saying that you need level 100 in PoE is like saying that you need level 716 in Elden Ring in order to finish the game.

Getting to 100 from 95 is meant to be a slog.
Why do you think mobs cap out at low 80s while the curve becomes exponential?
Top players make 5m exp per hour at 99 while you can easily hit 25m/h at 90.
I genuinely don't think you understand just how hard hitting 100 is by design.
It's meant to be a long term chase over the course of the league that most players will NEVER attain.
Let me repeat this: Most players will NEVER attain 100. By design.
The xp loss is part of this design. It's what sets the players who DO get to 100 from those that don't apart. Those who got 100 were able to dedicate the time AND have a build that was able to amass vast quantities of XP without losing it.

its not hard though, its "time consuming" thats all it is. people who have 12 hours a day can achieve it by no lifeing the game, while skilled players who have a job cant. thats not a difficult or "hard" challenge, its bad design, and should be changed.

Skilled players don't die often in maps so they will reach 100 eventually. It just take more days to achieve (but same time in game hours) i guess.

i know, and i dont die very often, but it still happens when the game messes up, it still feels bad even if its a very rare occurrence, and progression is still way to slow for even most dedicated games.
removing exp loss would be one small positive change for progression

Getting to 100 is both hard and time consuming and it's meant to be.
It's not meant to be a thing that everyone gets.
I can't believe I'm going to sound like Brad McQuaid here - but here it goes:
"Getting an Epic item needs to be unattainable by most players. If it becomes attainable to all, it ceases to be an Epic."
That's level 100 in PoE.
The only reason to get to 100 is to flex that you did and it'd not be a flex if it were not the soul crushing chore that it is.
